So, hiya guys - 4 Jul 2026 - (1,566 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank

So, hiya guys.
We've, um, nearly, this room was full from floor to ceiling with excess donations.
So we've nearly emptied this one today.
And Dan's got them into P3.
Um, so that's good.
Look, we found these.
I said...
We start eating our dinner off these, Dad.
Get used to prison when we get sent to prison for recycling.
So, there's still a bit to sort out.
And obviously I've got these lovely school tables off Darren.
And these little chairs.
Some of them need a bit of a wash.
We've got a couple of sets of these chairs and tables kicking around.
And then we can put things like...
They're a bit small to have out on the table for children to play with.
You know, bitty bitty.
Need to be really more chunkier stuff.
But we'll have a look.
See, because we've got plenty of toys.
You know that.
Um, plenty.
And I've nearly...
We're nearly back to the castle.
So, if you were one of our volunteers, you know how full this room was.
Because it was floor to ceiling with donations.
Oh God, that was low.
Oh, my knees clipped there when I got up.
Um, so yes.
Don't feel like we've done loads today.
Dan has, because he's gone down the stairs.
Around the corner, into P2, up to P3.
So he's done the worst of it, I think, really.
I mean, mine needs to be shot after one round of that.
Um...
But yeah, we've, uh...
We're nearly now at the bottom of this room.
I don't know if that was just a row chair we had before.
Because all the other chairs match.
They, like, all match.
And they all sit on each other, like, and what have you.
So, I'll have a look now.
I might need to get some hammer right.
In my spare time, like, not that I've got any spare time.
To paint the legs of the chairs, because they're annoying me.
Dan said just spray them, but I thought, well, hammer right.
I'd rather...
I don't... I'm not a big fan of spraying.
Um...
But yes, we've got some nice bits and bobs in here again.
Still a lot of toys.
Tons of books, but we knew that anyway.
Um...
So yes, I want to try and get this sorted tonight.
It's only where stuff have fallen down now, because everything else is on the floor, you know.
Everything else is sat on the floor.
Those book things are on the floor.
Um...
There's a chair over there, so that's just sat on the chair.
So it's where things have fallen out of bags.
I need to get ready now.
For tomorrow.
People have used the bell.
I don't think there's anything in the castle, is there?
No.
I've got bags and bags in there.
Um, the castle's never for sale.
It's never going to be for sale, because obviously it's my office.
So you can't have that.
Um, and I think these were the books that...
Vicky was sorting out for me a long time ago.
Um...
Yeah, pretty sure it was.
Last time we really knew it was about Christmas time, because we got Alf out.
But we were hiding him around the shop so people could find him.
So...
Remember Eileen's children?
They're teenagers.
They painted this room.
Do you remember?
We gave them free reign in this room.
But I wasn't allowed to see it.
Do you remember?
They wouldn't show me.
And they used... all the paint they used was paint that we had left from doing other stuff.
So they didn't buy any paint.
And I wasn't allowed to see it until it was finished.
We love this room.
Um, and the castle just finishes it off.
But then we won't be long now.
And we can get these little tables up by here.
And then, I'm wondering now, we can maybe, because there's a blue one.
And I always wanted the blue castle to go with it.
Um, maybe have another playroom the other side.
Or maybe turn this bigger one into a playroom as well.
But that's all we've been doing today.
We've, well, taken tons.
Like I've just literally gone in here and grabbed the bags out and danced on the work in our furnace room.
Uh, because my knees would be gone.
If I'm going downstairs for the toilet or something, I'll take a bag or two.
I found a load of Christmas cards because my mother's already stamping them ready now for discounts for January.
We're on it already, guys.
All half price, if you see some of it in the video.
Excuse me.
Oh, and I've had a nap.
And we've had some donations in.
A couple of people used the bell.
So that's great.
Um, so this level, this ground level, well, top level is, is near enough empty.
Um, there's just a few things up there.
I could probably bag that up tonight, if I'm honest.
Um, it's just up and down the stairs it is.
So I, I leave it, you see, until I've got to go up once and come down once.
I don't want to be up and down, up and down.
And then I can get the bags ready for Dan to bring down.
Um, and then this floor has got a bit of excess on it now where we've been pulling stuff out.
But this entire level is back to where it was or better.
I think because, um, you, you couldn't even get in here at all.
You, you just, we had to put the bookcase across it.
Do you remember?
And all the kids were gutted.
We knew when they were coming back and forth, but there we are.
Um, and then downstairs, the wing room is still full of donations.
And then we've got some work to do in the guitar room.
P2 needs to, P2 has nearly been cleared, the front of P2.
We've just left some of it by the window.
So we haven't got the stalkers videoing us like the paparazzi outside every time we're in there.
Because it is like a goldfish bowl, that one, because it's right on the corner.
Um, and then, yeah, yeah, we haven't got that much more to do.
If we pulled our finger out, we'd probably get it done this weekend.
But I can't see it happening because we've been going, we've been doing it slowly, little and often.
That's how we've been doing it.
Because otherwise it's just too much.
I mean, anybody else would have a break down with the amount of stuff, but we're used to it now.
Uh, you know, this, this is our job.
This is what we do.
We recycle.
And other people give up and say, no, I can't recycle these items.
I'm fed up with them.
Little boxes and stuff like that.
We look at them and we, we think, well, we're going to recycle them.
You know, give me a, we'll recycle them.
Um, and that's no shade on anybody else because it's a, it's a relentless job.
You think, oh, I'm going to work in a charity shop or I'm going to go and work in a second-hand shop.
We don't realise the amount of stock that comes in.
Like I had a lady come in today.
She's brought me in five bags plus a bag of shopping bags.
And brilliant, lovely stuff.
But it's like, it's overwhelming for people.
And that was probably a carful for her, you know.
Um, but for us, that's just easy five minutes.
I've sorted it.
All I've done is take the glass out, take the washing out, sorted what's expensive and what's not.
And everything else then that can go into storage, can go into storage.
But the glass in the china is more difficult to store, you see.
We like to get that out.
Um, so yeah, won't be long, guys.
Won't be long at all.
I was hoping to get the fire out last week.
They couldn't, this week.
They couldn't come out this week to have a recce around and decide what they want us to do.
Or if there's anything else they want us to do prior to us opening this level.
Um, and we've got the bell in place now so people can't just walk in and out.
Which they haven't told us to do that.
We've done that.
Which I think is better anyway, you know.
We don't want riffraff, do we?
Um, but they were busy.
So I said, right, let's get this room done.
And that's another room then they weren't expecting done.
So, well, they were expecting the front done by now.
And they've got one, they've got one, two, three, four, five, nearly six.
Nearly six rooms empty by the time they come back from when they first said we couldn't open because we had too much stock.
Which we knew we did.
We knew we were pushing our luck with it.
We just hang on and hang on to try and get another donation centre, didn't we?
Um,
oh yeah, so there we are guys.
I might have a sandwich now and then I might carry on.
While I still got the motivation.
