Yeah, we've sold a bit - 18 Apr 2026 - (731 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank

Yeah, we've sold a bit.
You can see some gaps.
I came in this morning.
Two lovely bags of books, donations.
Don't forget.
Don't forget all the donations from the books goes to nappies.
So I've got to sign that.
It's a little bit cold.
It's still a little bit cold.
But don't forget.
There we are.
See?
They all go to nappies.
They don't go in to pay in the bills.
The book money is ring-fenced.
We've still got a lot of sticks here.
And don't forget now they're three for fifty.
Now people have been coming in and having them for their lizards and stuff.
Not just craft.
Some people had them for wands.
Harry Potter fans.
And some people have been coming in just for their fish tanks.
Stuff like that.
CDs have gone well while we were on sale.
Because of course they're two fifty now.
Or less.
Put out some more stock.
Because we had a bit of room.
Put up some pretty wedding dresses now.
We've still got this beautiful dress.
Somebody was interested in it the other day.
But it was too small.
It's a very tight fitting dress.
But it's beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful.
Some other little dresses we found.
I've just done my mum and a baked potato.
I'm not a fan of breakfast.
But I fancy the baked potato.
So I thought well I'll have a baked potato for breakfast.
So I just wanted to remind the staff.
That we will provide lunch.
Usually in the form.
As long as you're doing it the full day.
Usually in the form of a micro meal.
Or potato.
Jacket potato.
You can kind of chuck some of this in there too.
Or some chucked in there.
Or tipped off.
Ready for spring.
So we always provide that.
Plus tea and coffee.
And bits of noodles.
If I've got noodles about I'll put them out.
Tea and coffee for our volunteers.
So I suggest you to be aware of that.
If you're looking to volunteer.
What I don't do is support the Greggs epidemic.
So we don't pay for someone who doesn't have Greggs every day.
Because it's very expensive.
And it's not actually that healthy.
We try and promote it to be healthy.
Because we're the food bank.
Obviously we do our best to do healthy stuff.
So that's why our top up shop.
Hasn't got anything.
It's got lots of sugar in it.
I don't know if we've got any rice snaps yet for now.
Because I think most of the rice snaps are gone.
But they were on an amber.
But everything I pick up.
Unless it's been donated in.
Because if it's been donated in.
Oh I think we've got donations.
Oh gosh that's heavy.
No I don't think I've got.
Oh I've got a bag of wool.
I forgot about that.
Bag of wool for my knitters.
If it can come in.
Alright so these have got to go by May guys.
So what do they say on them?
Oh they're green.
So we try not to buy anything.
Or give anything out purposefully.
They're full of sugar.
Because we've got a responsibility as a food bag.
If somebody brings in chocolate.
Or somebody brings in sweets.
We put them on there.
It's not the end of the world is it?
But we don't intentionally fill people up with...
So if I'm palming them off for a week or so.
This week you know why.
Because the dates coming up.
They've lasted well aren't they.
I couldn't get them last time I was here.
Wheatabix themselves had gone up to like...
I don't know.
Something crazy like four pound a box.
Something stupid like that.
I'm going to get on my bake potato now.
Because I've been fancying it.
I'm going to bake the potatoes at the moment.
I've still got the last half I bought off the market.
But we're still getting through it.
Yeah and then I bought some micro ones then as well.
Because I always forget to bring it with me in the morning.
Because I'm useless in the mornings with time.
My tablets don't kick in and I'm like oh god you know.
So you know me.
I'm usually up late.
So mornings are no best.
Right I've got to go and get a customer.
