So, I got a couple of shelves - 4 Apr 2026 - (1,450 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank

So, I got a couple of shelves.
Mystery boxes are gone today.
They fly out these mystery boxes.
This is one that I primarily have been having outside.
So, if you've got any thin ones, I need shelves like this, guys.
For people to have in their workplace now and doctor surgeries and in the hospitals and places.
Because they are going to have our books on them and then you pay by smart code.
That's going to be the deal.
Yeah?
So, I need narrow, good little bookcases like that.
Or little tables that they can put on, you know.
So, they are just out of the way in places like that.
And obviously big ones for the shops.
But, I was so glad Will came in.
Will is from Aberdeen.
And I said to him, find a shop in Aberdeen.
So, anyway, he was looking at some of the toys.
I said, well, I need all those toys out.
He said, put the shelf in there.
To get it in there.
To put the toys back in the shelf.
He said, oh, I don't know if I can do it all.
He said, well, I'll have a go.
Oh, so he dragged all this out for me.
Which is fab, because that's what I wanted.
He didn't get it all out because there was loads in there.
But he's going to try and get his shelf in there now.
Right, because we need tall shelves to get more toys on it.
That's the plan.
Then this cabinet.
I moved the shoes because they just stick out too much, unfortunately.
This cabinet is from Big Risca.
Can you remember him?
Now, when we had the flood through the roof in Big Risca, the bottom got wet and it's damaged.
So Dan will see if he can take it off with the jigsaw.
Right, because it's this chipboard.
If it's still stable, once he's kept that bottom off, that's great.
But in the meantime...
In the meantime, we've got that one there, which will be laying flat.
But these shelves have got extenders on.
But the roof ain't big enough in this shop for the extenders.
But he might be able to make a shelf out of the extenders.
I don't know.
I thought I'd put them all back on.
So yeah, we've got CDs up here.
So that's the plan there now.
I don't know what the plan is.
We're not working Monday at the moment.
So we're supposed to be doing grants.
But I could do with him building me a second...
I could do with the shop next door.
Tonight, please.
To move some of my excess.
Because I'm building up again in here.
But I could do with some more racking built as well.
In the donation centre.
I need to free Daniel if I do.
Get those on there, look.
That's a good one, isn't it?
A good deep one.
The lady was like, oh, it's a bit...
I was like, oh, don't worry about it.
It's okay.
I'd like them all painted the same colour.
But we just haven't got the time, guys.
Just haven't got the time.
Would have come in and painted my cupboards all the same colour.
This is a good one.
It's a good sturdy one.
You can screw it all down now.
Screw the shelves in once they're in.
Screw it so it's safe.
Go from there.
So thank god we'll come in.
Because I was looking forward to that job.
And, you know, yes, he's had to pull stuff out.
But it had to be done anyway, didn't it?
Because it was all piled in there.
So that's good.
I don't know where to bundle these up now in job lots.
And get rid of them.
The pound clothes.
Here.
And just put the more expensive clothes up here.
Because that's what people seem to be looking for.
There's the Deere clothes.
And I mean I got weird houses for the Deere clothes.
I can't get out because of the pound clothes.
Erm...
I don't know guys.
No.
What I spoke to about with Will and what I spoke to about somebody else.
Some of the other staff as well.
What do you think?
Now I've put £10 set on that.
Which is good for a cup of saucers.
That's a good price that is, right?
Now obviously We're 50% so that would be £5.
Or it would be £75.
Or, which is good.
Because that's like £2.50 then for that.
That is good because cups and saucers sell well.
Especially in sets, right?
And then spend £10 get £5 away for stuff for free.
Or should I just put £3 on the lot?
Or £2.50 on the lot?
Because I'm happy to take minimum £2.50 and then they just go quicker.
You tell me what you think.
I price it like other second hand shops and other charity shops would.
Because I've also got to guesstimate a value of the worth of the company for fire, for insurance, for whatever.
I've got to guesstimate how much revenue is locked up in stock.
So I have to do that as well.
So you tell me what you think.
Is my pricing putting you off with the 50%?
Because loads of shops do it.
New Look, Asda, Tesco.
They all say 30% off sale.
And people just go over there and buy stuff.
For me, it seemed to be logical to do it that way.
But it's up to you.
But the other thing is if we start saying things like £2.50, we're not going lower than £2.50 on that because you're taking the mick.
Because it is a collectible tea set.
And you are having a bargain price.
Even at £5 you're still having a bargain price.
I don't know.
Feedback welcome.
You know, logical feedback is welcome.
If you're a hater and you're just spouting about we're just blocking it.
That's what we do.
But you know, if you're giving feedback then we're happy with feedback.
I could do with some of the big stuff going here.
So much big stuff.
We need it.
We need next door.
And we need a big shop.
Like a furniture shop.
We still need a furniture shop guys.
Because it's the furniture that I'm having to turn down.
And it's the furniture that is selling for good money.
And it's the furniture that is taking up all the room in these smaller shops.
Still keep the smaller shops.
Because the smaller stuff needs to go somewhere, doesn't it?
But, I don't know.
I don't know.
Anyway, we've had a few new customers in today.
A lot of people coming in showing their support for everything that's going on online.
Because of course they haven't seen me.
Because I haven't been well.
Because I've been intermittent overnight.
But thank you to Will for moving them shelves.
I've been looking forward to it.
I've filled the one up.
I don't know if I'm going to get the toy one done.
I might need Dan to help me get the angle in there.
I don't know.
And then I can look at it and say, well I can get these amount of toys in the rest.
Need to go storage.
Because we've got so much here now.
I mean I cleared that off with clothes and sold them in job lots.
Right?
Every time a bag sold I filled up another bag and took it out.
And it's full.
We've got other stuff now.
I don't know where they come from.
I think the fairies come in.
Perhaps it's all these other charity shops.
Perhaps they break in overnight and go, ooooh.
So yeah.
I might go now because I can't do the shelves there, see.
If I could have done the shelf bit myself.
I don't think I'll get it in.
Because it's got to be like tipped and then tipped back up.
I don't know if I'll be able to handle it.
It's a really heavy duty shelf it is.
They don't lock it but it is an heavy one.
There's a shelf to it there.
So I don't know if when I tilt it to go in am I going to lose it and it's going to slip.
I don't know.
I'm stuck with a shelf then.
Wangled in a corner.
Which might be worse for Daniel to get out.
I don't know.
I don't know.
And I don't know what we're doing tomorrow.
Mondays, bank holiday.
But we usually have Mondays off anyway.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know guys.
I don't know.
Perhaps we'll do a lucky dip on it.
