Evening commute home, guys - 4 Mar 2026 - (1,782 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank
Evening commute home, guys.
Evening commute homes, because the haters said I'm not allowed to do it anymore.
The other thing Trading Standards pulled us up on, I don't know if it's a video, well they didn't pull us up on it.
It's an advisory.
What they advised is, you know the teddies that are knitted.
Now, I usually write on them vintage handmade, because I look at it and think, well it's probably over 10 years old.
Handmade, because they're handmade.
She said, no you can't write that on them anymore, because what if it's been done on a machine, a knitting machine.
She said the best thing now, and this goes for everybody, it's not just us, this will go for any charity shops out there now.
Anybody that's doing raffles with these teddies, any that's making them, you've got to put the fire labels on them as well.
So she suggested, maybe we write on them, this item isn't a toy, and start putting them in the cabinets away from the teddies.
And they wouldn't be by the toys anyway, because they're usually dear, because we get quite a lot for the knitted teddies.
They always go well at raffles, and they always go well for... well they always go well, simple as.
Other people do a lot of raffles with those, don't they?
Because I was going to ask people to knit me booties, so I could put eggs in them for the Easter egg thing.
You know, like, Velinda do the chicks, but I think I'm going to give it a miss now, because all those chicks.
Remember when we used to do them for Velinda?
I used to sell them, because I can't knit, but I used to sell them quite well.
They will have to have the fire label sewn on to every single one now.
We've ordered some anyway, just in case we need to sew them in ours.
But otherwise, I think what we're going to have to do is take all our wool off, because it's just... it doesn't sell anyway.
Very rare to the Cardi sell.
So don't knit any hats, booties, mittens, cardigans for us at the moment whatsoever.
The only thing I want is family sized blankets.
I don't want any toddler blankets, no baby blankets.
Some of my volunteers have had to sew the baby blankets together, because nobody wants some guys, okay?
They've all got to be kept in these sleeping bags now, so they don't put... very rare do they put blankets on them.
So yes, obviously we've passed Trading Sanders, because we weren't doing nothing wrong.
They have been in about the bin.
I said it's not my bin.
It's got Caerphilly Butter Council on it.
It hasn't even got, you know, number whatever on it.
It's not my bin.
And Caerphilly Butter Council don't pick up my rubbish.
So, which, I have a contract and I could show them when I was there.
So I was like, I don't know whose bin it is.
You know, the bin is now famous.
But I gave them the names of the key people who write complaints and make complaints about us.
And the ones that the police are now investigating.
And they were like, I could see them looking at each other going, yeah, yeah, that's them.
That's a familiar name.
Nicola Williams, Hayley Thomas, Tara Hall.
We're seeing people all the time, you know guys.
HCT, I mean, you think HCT would do exactly the same as the other registered charity and baby bank in Caerphilly.
I won't name them.
And they have asked them to remove any tags off there and not to share any of their donation or requests or any of their posts on their expose a page of us.
Because they don't want to be involved and they don't want to engage with anybody off the page.
And they do not want to be associated with that page.
And they know us and they're quite happy to work with us.
OK, so you think HCT, bearing in mind they are having investigations about their behaviour, etc.
You think they would stay out of it, wouldn't they?
But obviously not because they're involved.
And you can see that because they're liking and sharing the posts and doing other things in there.
But there we are.
Like I said, it's all coming out of the wash and everybody can see them for what they are now.
My mother was in the car today because my father's gone and done a pick up for us in Pontypool.
And she was sat at the bollards watching people window shopping in P2, Pontypool 2, if you're new to us.
Pontypool 2 is a warehouse, right?
That is our store.
It's not a warehouse, sorry.
It's a storage place for us, right?
It says it on the windows.
This is now a storage shop.
Anything in this shop is not available for the foreseeable future.
Please go around to the other side.
OK, so what we what we might do is swap sides and open down the bottom.
But that's going to be like we're not even looking to like probably summer before that happens.
Because I ain't going over there unless it's warm and doing that unless it's warm.
Today was warm.
Because people are not walking up Crane Street as much because the pound shop are gone.
But I believe farm foods have got a play play thing going in there.
Some soft play.
I don't know about Wilkinson's, but it's sold.
So I don't know what's going in Wilko.
But there are signs on the windows to tell you to go round to the other side of the shop.
Because my mother said there's loads of people window shopping and they're saying, oh, she's not open again.
She's not open again.
We are.
We're open every day.
Go round the other side, guys.
I can't make it easier.
You know, other than Daniel go round with a buggy cart and pick you up and drive it round to the other side.
You know, just follow the arrows.
Yes, so I've got two people that need to pick up their period bags tomorrow, please.
And I've got another ladies I got to get done tonight.
There might be two I got to get done tonight.
Hopefully I'll get them in.
Remind me this evening.
It doesn't matter if it's late.
Remind me.
Well, one of them is on the stairs ready to go.
We keep forgetting to pick.
Dan keeps forgetting to pick it up.
He is selling stuff off there because he can't even move for donations over there now.
So he is trying to sell off as much as he can.
So records and things are like 20 for a pound.
DVDs are 20 for a pound.
There is no 50p clothes in Pontypool because we've had to clear that wall and we sold them as a job lot.
We did two job lots.
I think it comes to 50.
50 pounds we had altogether.
We had a 30 and a 20 offered for him today.
And we took it because it saves us taking them to the donation center and storing them.
And there would be one full bay on the racking of clothes.
So there are no... because a lady asked me today if we got any nine to six knotted Pontypool.
Okay.
Possibly at Caerphilly.
We've probably got them in Risca but we're not open at the moment because we've still got people off with bereavements.
But there is no 50p and no filler bag for £2.50 on the children's clothes in Pontypool.
We've got to clear that wall because council have been out to see it.
And they said it's too much now with the amount of water that's coming through it.
That's got to be dealt with.
And obviously nobody can get in there to do any work on it can they?
It's never been that bad as a guys.
I mean as long as we've been there it's never been that bad.
And people have said only smelly in the shop.
Which there is a musty smell to it.
It's over a hundred years old the shop.
But maybe that's what the additional smell was.
Was the leak coming through.
But it's damaging the ceiling tiles now as well.
So we've got to deal with it.
So there we are.
We've got to clear it.
The pound shop clothes are filler bag for £2.50 because they're probably going to do that part of the roof as well while they're up there.
They are the worst parts of the shop.
That wall where the baby clothes were.
It's all on that side really I'll be honest with you.
And it's on that side as you've got the stairs as well.
So we've got to make room because obviously builders don't want to be fannying about with bits of baby clothes while they're trying to do work etc.
They are talking about sending a drone up to have a look at the roof if they give us permission.
And let us share the video because it would be interesting when they'd see the top.
We let you know.
They might not.
I can't fool somebody if they do to see the damage on the roof before they get up there and put the scaffold in.
So bear with us because we might have to have scaffolding out the front.
And because the pound shop is in the front window where Wally is.
So one of the mums painted on there for us and I'm a surfer guy.
So just be aware that we could be having a bit of building work going on.
I didn't want to put too much of the video on because you know what the haters are like.
But as you can see there's a lot of water coming through now.
It's not just damp from old age.
Look at that car.
It looks like it's covered in elastic bands.
Look at it.
It looks like one of those elastic band poles doesn't it?
So just bear with us guys because we might be having building work going on.
God knows more by the look of it.
We've done well though today.
Dan's done well to clear that entire wall in one day.
I'm really pleased with that.
So yeah, that's great.
And yeah.
Fill a bag for £2.50 and I still spend £10, get £10 worth of stuff for free.
Because we've got shadow!
And I'm also doing fill a bag for £2.50 on the adult clothes in Caerphilly.
Evening commute homes, because the haters said I'm not allowed to do it anymore.
