Oh, well, we've been quite busy today, guys - 29 Jan 2026 - (5,127 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank

Oh, well, we've been quite busy today, guys.
I've been quite shocked, because I didn't think people would be out, because the weather's not as nice as what it was yesterday, but we've been quite busy.
Can I zoom out now?
Did I figure out how to do it?
No, not on a live.
So, I've got to start packing up, because I've got to go and see a woman now in Cardiff, a lady in Cardiff, who's got some pile of the P. Louise calendars for me, and the fancy boxes.
So, I thought, well, if we have those... Pram will move his stuff.
Let me put you down a minute, guys.
If I have those boxes of her, we might be able to fill them with some of the stuff that we get gifted.
It might not all be P. Louise, but there's a lot of girls out there, and little boys as well.
I like the P. Louise calendars, and they're very expensive, and perhaps the mums can't afford them, and I totally understand this ridiculous prices.
But we might be able to fill them, like, with three-quarters P. Louise and some other stuff, because we have lovely stuff in, don't we?
So, my plan for Sunday is... I'll have a bit of a move around.
So, we're going to pull this lot out Sunday.
Clean the window, pull it out, because this has been there now since before Christmas, and we've got gaps, look.
So, Dan's got my nice lights to put up.
I might keep the 50% on, because it's gone well today with 50%.
So, what I might do is take it all back and go from there.
Somebody reported us to Chief of the Pavement.
The Chief of the Pavement has come out and said, I don't know what they're talking about, that's fine.
You're the loud X amount, I would say, at the front of your shop.
So, there you are, unlucky.
You've failed again.
And then, we'll get Dan to pull that out.
Use the muscles.
You can put up the lights that I got, the low-voltage ones, like the ones in Pontypool.
They've come down, so the little brackets that they come with don't hold them up, so he's got to build something to put it on.
We'll pull all this out, clean it, put it back.
Now, different design, because this has been there since about November, haven't it?
And have a bit of a restructure, because I've sold some of the big stuff up the top.
There's a few gaps appearing now, where things have been selling.
You know, you're probably thinking, there's no gaps there.
There is.
There is gaps.
Where is the gap?
I know where there's gaps.
And...
Like, somebody's been in here, so it's a bit disheveled again, so it all needs tidying.
So if anybody wants to come in Sunday and out, they can.
He's got a change of bulb for me.
But we've got a few things hanging up, like a little bit too many clothes hanging up, but they now need to be pulled back in a bit.
Put them back, and put something else up for a change, innit?
And what I might do is bag up the older clothes, because I know Dan sorted out good piles, and then I sold the baby baths, see, that they were in.
So, perhaps I'll bag those up and do them as a job lot, fill a bag for five, innit?
I can't remember if I sold it, but I sold something big.
Might look at getting some Kalex cubes for up there.
You know you can get, like, the four Kalex cubes?
Because they would fit quite nicely there, and we could screw them to the top of these, and then they'd be secure, and then we'd have plus a little bit in front.
So, Mike, keep your eye out now for the four sets of Kalex cubes.
But, like, we got some... look, I've got gaps in cupboards now, where people have been buying stuff, so we'll go through that again now.
I can't believe our sausage dog candle is still there.
I love him.
I love that bag, too.
Somebody had a look at these, but pulled them off, so I've got to get them back on.
But then I'll start pulling the Christmas towards the back now in one area.
Keep it out.
Well, they'd be ideal now for our baby shower, wouldn't they?
Alright, guys, how's everybody doing?
Alright, Lisa and Lacey.
Do you enjoy your holiday, Lacey?
Oh, I'm one degree from getting back on a plane.
Oh, I haven't got back on a plane.
I don't know, Lacey.
Honestly.
Honestly.
I don't think a week is long enough for us, because by the time we get there, and adjust, and then start chilling out, we're back to work, aren't we?
This is the longest... look at him.
This is the longest I've ever had off this year.
We've had two to three weeks off.
Maybe even longer, actually.
Maybe even three to four weeks off the shops when we come back.
I've never done that.
Never.
It's only ever been a week, like.
Then, like, I found a load of fancy dress costumes, which we had up because they were selling before Christmas, and of course they won't sell so much now, will they?
So they can come over here.
I could do with another shelf in there, and I think I have asked the lady, and I think I said I was going to pick it up Sunday.
I've got to check that.
And then this has hardly been shopped.
But as you can see, it's quite dishevelled.
More dishevelled than usual.
So...
That could do with all coming off and being put back on.
And maybe, like, having all the crockery.
Maybe those two Christmas, because then it's appeared out of the way a little bit.
And then all crockery.
I've had some lovely customers in.
I've had lots of new customers in, too.
Where did you go?
Germany, were they?
Was it Germany you went, Lacey?
How long did you go for?
And where did you go?
And did you take pictures of the food?
I like to see food pictures.
This has been shopped quite well, because this was very overcrowded and a bit dishevelled.
But it's gone down because a lot of people have bought stuff out of the cabinets.
We had that off the pharmacy, remember, because it was damaged.
Oh, where did they come from?
Oh, that's heavy, actually.
Oh, it's really heavy.
But there's things like...
Seems a lot for a tambourine, I do.
Just one tambourine on his own.
I might keep the half price on, I think.
Because it is still going in there, you know.
It's good for you, it's good for us.
I think if we didn't take any...
Well, knowing what I've got in rooms that people don't even know about.
And areas people don't even know about.
I think if we didn't take anything for two years, we'd still have enough stock.
That's lovely, two of that.
But, like, this plate is taking up quite a bit.
But I've sold two plates out of the cabinet today.
And, like, look at the space behind there.
Really, what I could do with Daniel doing, really, is put in a shelf there.
Because we lose a lot of the heights, see.
Lose a lot of the heights with the stacking.
Somebody's had a look at the books, but they're all the vintage.
They are the first edition ones there.
I've got the cheaper ones out there because they'll go quicker.
A lot of people interested in these jackets.
Did you?
Did you take pictures of the food?
Oh, I'll have to have a look.
Hiya, Sam.
Hiya, Luke.
Look, I'm safe for ages.
I haven't been on Ponteville for ages, I've got to be honest.
I've been here.
But I'm thinking of doing a swap.
So I'm thinking if I get this right and then tell Daniel not to touch it for two or three weeks, we'll do a swap.
It's getting warmer now, and I'm not so cold.
So now I'm like, there, let's go.
See, I told two plates there...
today.
It's funny, isn't it?
They've been hanging around for ages, over a year.
Maybe even 18 months.
And they've gone today.
It's funny, isn't it?
Now, other charity shops would have got rid of them by now because of their rotation requirements.
But if it sits there for two years, if it sits there for three years, it'll sell one day, guys, won't it?
So I could put some more plates in there now.
There's a gap in there, look.
See?
Bits are falling over.
So I don't know if we'll get it all done on the Sunday.
But...
that shelf keeps falling in there.
So he's going to have to put something across that.
Some wood, because I don't know why that's falling.
It must be missing something in there for it to do that.
Some of the cars are gone.
Looks like I could get more in there.
But then I got bits of toys out because, of course, toys were selling over Christmas when they...
but not so much in January, February now.
It'll be more like spring.
They'll be looking for spring toys now when they go outside.
I've never seen so many toys this year.
Same as the other charities and groups that's out there.
So many toys.
You know, the toy charities.
Like, things like this vase should really be in a cupboard, you know.
It's going to get wrecked for there, isn't it?
So...
sort it out.
And then, like, these little Christmas bits.
They can go, like, in a box now up in there.
And if somebody says, have you got any Christmas?
We say, oh yeah, I've got loads of Christmases up here.
We did have a Christmas section.
The A-Team put the Christmas section in the back room, but that's full of donations now.
If I die tonight, those back rooms are full of designer clothes, aren't they?
I think it's full.
Right?
Don't leave them here if I die tonight.
That's pretty.
Yeah, so I think we'll have a good go there.
So, well done with Chief of the Pavement.
Chief of the Pavement said, I'm fine where I am.
So, mind your own business, haters.
You've failed again.
I think I updated.
Didn't I?
That the police have spoke to the one family and said, if you carry on, we're going to book you.
Because this is ridiculous now.
And we're not going to do anything about what she said about you.
Because she's only asking for your address.
Because she wants to sue you.
Because she wants to stop bothering her.
Stop bothering her.
And then she won't be asking for your address online.
Which is not a criminal offence anyway.
To ask for somebody's address online, is if you put somebody's address online.
That's a criminal offence.
But the thing is now, they've now had an action by the police to say, don't discuss this.
Don't discuss that anymore.
Don't contact her.
Block her.
So, I'll start getting my claim ready now.
Because I can't see them keeping their mouth shut.
Myself.
Any of them.
And they're still looking into some of the others.
The more serious ones.
That turned up at my house.
That I got on CCTV.
One outside the other front.
They're talking to herself outside my house now.
I wasn't even there.
Right?
And she's going...
Come on, answer your door.
She's doing this outside my house.
Honest to God, like a crazy person.
Like, have a word with yourself.
Like, I should put the video on, really.
But the police have got it, you see.
So, I've got to wait to see what the police say.
But how crazy is that behaviour?
I would never go to somebody's house.
They're doing their house.
Going, come on, answer the door.
If I don't answer the door first time, maybe I'm out.
You know.
It's a unique concept.
But maybe I'm out.
And maybe that's why I haven't answered the door.
But anyway, I think they've had that one as well.
For harassment.
They said, see, the police...
They know what they're doing.
Like, the police said, oh yeah, we'll give them a weekend now.
And then that weekend turned into another week.
And yeah, it was hard work.
January was hard work, dealing with all these dickheads.
But, give them enough rope.
They've hung themselves.
And they've provided a lot of information.
For the police to speak to them, haven't they?
And they said, well, even after you were told on the phone, by the 101 operators, to cease contact, you continued.
So they've got them on it now.
So, that's good, isn't it guys?
Tired.
But I've got to go now and pick up these boxes from card, if they are, from a lady.
So we'll see what we can do with these P. Louise calendars.
I'm sure they would just go anywhere, even if we gifted them out or sold them.
But if we could fill them, because I know that there's some others that can't afford them, and I don't blame you, they're so expensive.
That'd be good.
We could gift them out.
So yeah, I need to go through it all now again.
I'm hoping we get quite a bit done on Sunday, but I might have to pick up a shelf.
We'll be here.
We'll be selling stuff and taking donations.
It's just, everything might be everywhere.
Because I want to pull it all out and have a good go.
Give it a good clean.
Dust.
Clean the inside of the windows.
The outside of the windows did look a bit dusty.
I haven't done them since last year.
And we've had all our building work, so I think we'll do the outside of the windows as well.
Roller shutter could do a bit of a sweep down.
Because it was a pressure washer really.
Outside the pavement, but outside goes through me.
I can't cope with dirty pavements.
I don't know why.
It's a new phobia of mine.
I feel like I want to jet wash everything down.
It's that time of year where you want to get the jet washer out and go and clean everything down.
So we've been planning for the baby shower.
We're quite looking forward to it.
I'm a bit disheartened how far away it is.
I've got another month really to wait before we do it.
But we're looking forward to it really.
Be nice.
I need volunteers there.
And I'll need volunteers to run the shop as well.
Because we're going to have a couple of tables.
Because we're going to have the baby tables.
So you're going to have note to three, three to six, six to twelve, twelve to eighteen.
There on the tables.
So we might need two tables for that little lot.
And they might get the shovel.
So I could do it like volunteers there.
Making sure they're staying in the piles for the mothers to do.
You know.
Because they're having a free bag of clothes like.
We'll see how busy it is.
If it's not busy we'll do more than one bag.
Refreshments are being dealt with with the venue.
So we aren't going to do the refreshments.
We'll do a raffle.
So everybody will need a raffle ticket when they come in.
And that will be free.
The clothes will be free.
But then we've got a table.
We might have a table or two then.
With some toy sales and some equipment sales on.
Not very expensive.
I don't think there's anything that's like over ten.
It's all three pound, two pound.
Just to cover the cost of the hole.
The hole wasn't that expensive.
I think it was forty in the end.
But of course we've got to lay all this out when we get there as well.
So we'll have that table there.
We've got some sweets.
What else did we say we were going to do?
A raffle.
We might have a couple of therapy tables.
I've asked a few people if they do like alternative therapy type things to come and speak to the mothers as well.
I don't know.
We'll do that.
We'll see how we go with that.
It's only going to be two hours.
I need the shops open on the day.
Dan could probably open Pontypool but it would be nice to have him over there.
Just because we need him to carry stuff.
We'll see how we go.
We might be able to leave him in Pontypool.
I could do with somebody to run this shop.
And then if we can get the card machines set up over there.
It'll be card and contact payments only.
For the bits and bobs.
Hopefully we get the card.
I'd rather do card over there.
It was all traceable then.
We haven't got to do no banking and nobody can say anything then.
Can they?
Can't say she's money laundering.
Because it's going through the card machine.
You're not a money launderer if it goes through the card machine.
We're not a very good one.
I'm looking forward to it.
It's only two hours.
It's 11 through 2.
11, 12, 1.
I think it's until 1.
Because the refreshment shuts at 1.
I'll have to have a look then.
But everybody's welcome.
If you just want to pop in and have a look and say hello.
You can.
But if there's another person out there.
Does some sort of alternative therapies or something.
That would like to come and host a table in the corner.
To discuss stuff with mothers.
You're more than welcome to.
Not like a business where you're selling stuff.
But like some sort of stuff that's related to like, I don't know, sometimes you have animal therapies or whatever, art therapies or whatever.
I've asked an art therapist to come in.
So I'm waiting on our lady to confirm.
But like you might do something else.
Like reading or play things or something.
If you want to give me a shout and we'll see if it fits in.
Then you can have a little table set up down the other end.
To discuss things with mothers as well.
But it obviously needs to be like baby and child related.
That would be good.
I can't think what else.
If anybody wants to make up any sample packs that I can gift out for free to the mothers.
So for example if you make wax melts and you want to put your business card on them and you're one of our mothers, you know.
And you support us.
If you want to do like a little pack or a little sample pack of something.
I can put them all nicely on a table lined up.
Like they do at these wedding favour places and what have you.
I can do tidy.
I know you don't believe it.
But I can do tidy.
And if not, there will be other people there anyway to tidy it up after me.
Right?
You can do that.
So if you do things like...
I don't know.
What do you do?
I can only think of wax melts.
I can't think of anything else.
Because you can do small samples of wax melts.
I don't know.
What else do you do?
What else can you make?
Or sometimes you make dummy chains and stuff.
But it has to be like a sample pack.
Something that the mothers can take away with them perhaps.
I can do a table of that.
Because we know you lot.
You know us.
We know you.
And we all know the mothers is coming in.
So we are all sort of vetted, aren't we?
Within the baby bank page.
We are all vetted.
We all know each other.
All the crazies are kept outside the page and outside the shops.
Because we don't want to win you.
So we know that the businesses that are on our family sharing page or say somebody is selling their furniture.
We know that it's going to be sold to a decent family.
We know and we've met.
You've vetted us.
We've vetted you.
And we've vetted the sellers as well, haven't we?
So we all know each other.
So, you know, by you bringing in your wax melts and maybe giving mothers to win a little bag with your business card on the table.
Or something.
And going away and the mums can try it.
Or like a cream or aroma therapy something or other.
Or maybe you do like the toilet bombs or the little discs for the hoovers or something.
You know, something like that.
For the mothers.
Little packs.
That we know because we already work with you as a business.
Or we already know you as a mother.
Or...
You know, if...
And different things like that, don't we?
So we know that you're a reputable company.
Or a reputable side hustle our mothers have got.
Or a reputable small business.
You know?
And it's not going to create a problem for another mother if they're buying wax melts off you.
Because we've all worked together on this page to build it, haven't we?
So that's good.
And like I said, all the crazies are on the outside.
My cousin's coming down.
She works in CID.
And she's from Newbury.
And she's coming down.
She works in CID.
She is coming down to see family.
But she's going to come and help us run this event as well.
Just in case any crazies do turn up.
So that'll be good.
She said she'd like to come along.
My cousin has got learning difficulties.
Can't.
Because I think she's going to hospital for operation.
So she's not going to be able to come because she's done a lot of fundraising for us in the past.
And picking up stuff and dropping off stuff.
I think it'll be quite good, really.
Get to meet other people.
Perhaps people who work behind the scenes and have done a bit of fundraising for us.
Yeah, I think guys.
We've got a good month now to plan it.
Because it's not till the 28th.
So we're going to take a good half of the room.
With our staff.
Because we want to get quite a bit of it gone.
So a lot of it will be textiles and stuff.
And the mums can fill a bag.
At least one bag is going to be.
So yeah.
I think what else we could do.
I got some balloons.
Pink and blue balloons.
Got some nice tablecloths.
And we can fold them up afterwards and take them with us.
Ready for the next one.
Got some of the little bottle things to put sweeties in.
It's a bit like a fair.
Do you know what I mean?
Like when you're walking around it's a bit like a fair.
You come in and you're like oh go round a little bit like a craft fair.
But like it'll be like a baby shower fair.
It won't be playing games and things like that.
I think I found my backdrop hanger.
So I might get a backdrop to put up.
People do selfies.
But it won't be like playing games and things like that.
And the venue are going to do the refreshment.
So we don't have to worry about that this time.
But if you do something or if you make something like chocolates or brownies or something and you wanted to do like a little sample pack to give out to mothers.
You know what you've got to do with it.
You know the deals.
If you can just give us like write on the packs what your food hygiene rating is.
Cross all the T's dot all the I's.
That'd be great.
And then we can give them out then.
What we'd do is we'd probably have a table and then we'd have a volunteer sort of man in that table and maybe another table with leaflets or whatever.
And just to monitor that somebody don't want to take all the brownies like me.
Waxing outside.
We have to sniff them all.
Then that'd be fab.
We can say like help yourself to one or two of the samples.
And then they know that that's one of our mothers off the page.
And mothers get to know each other as well.
Because you don't have to just be Caerphilly mothers.
We had a family in from Nelson today.
They can come over can't they?
You know people from Pontypreet can come over.
We've had people from Church Village come before now.
You can call over and you might meet up with somebody there.
Sit in the cafe and have a chat with somebody and get to know another mother as well.
And we'll see how it goes.
We booked two hours.
Maybe we need three.
Next time I don't know.
And it's a nice venue as well.
And we don't have to...
The problem is when we do the Christmas event now we've got to clear so much of the shop to get Santa in and everything else.
And it's hard work.
You know especially before Christmas.
Like I said it's a lot of pressure on us and the staff before Christmas to get it done.
And there isn't a need to have a Christmas event.
Because there's millions of Christmas events going on by other charities and groups and what have you.
So I don't think there's a need for us.
But we can do something more multicultural.
Like celebrate the seasons and like you know get a bouncy castle for spring.
Things like that you know.
Things that involves everybody.
Every culture.
Every religion.
Every belief.
I mean it hasn't always got to be Easter and Christmas.
Because we do have a very diverse following.
But yeah the baby shower is something separate so I haven't seen anybody copying us yet.
I'm sure they will.
So be good.
Be good.
I did a baby shower years ago for my friend.
And it was one of the first that I'd ever heard of in the UK.
I can't think how old a little boy is now.
He might be about 10.
He might have been 10 years ago.
And it went on really well.
And then loads of people started having baby showers.
So it won't be like party.
You won't be sat down playing party games.
It will be more like a fair where you walk around and there's different sort of stalls or different tables.
And then if you want something you can or we'll have a few things to buy and then most of it will probably be free.
But I could do with some, yeah it would be nice to have at least two tables with different alternative therapy type things there and discussing the benefits with mothers as well.
Because we've had, like we had the lady who did the pet therapy with the dogs once before in Pontypool shop didn't she?
We had a couple of people in.
You know where you book the dogs to come out and work with the children with special needs and behavioural problems and things like that.
Um, yeah you alright Caroline?
I'm not too bad.
I'm still a bit under the weather if I'm honest.
But I'm feeling better now.
It's a bit warmer.
I'm feeling warmer at night.
I'm rubbishing the cold.
I'm rubbishing the heat and I'm rubbishing the cold.
But I'm feeling a bit better now.
I'm feeling like I'm ready to get up and go now and have a go in it.
Hang on, I haven't got my glasses on.
What are you giving us?
Packets of what?
If I get packets of bubbles do you want me to get something?
Oh yeah, if you want.
Oh yeah, brilliant.
Yeah, anything like that.
If you want to make stuff up.
Yeah, that's fab for us to give out, you know.
But we can promote your business as well.
But it's always nice for the mothers to have a little bit more than a business card and maybe a sample of something.
Or maybe if you run like a beauty salon and you want to give our mothers an extra 20% off because they've attended the event.
Uh, you know, use the code like James Baby or something like that.
Um, that's, and then you know where they've come from as well then.
We can do that because you're giving them 20% off.
So if they come in and have their nails done and their nails are like, I don't know, last time I went to have my nails done was about 30 quid.
I stopped doing it there.
I started doing my own.
30, 35 pound and they get 20% off because they come to you.
Uh, that's fab as well.
We can do that if you want.
Even if you're like, I don't know, a removal company and you offer the mothers an extra 20 quid off removal fee or you know, 10 pound off or whatever if you want to do that and print up some leaflets for us, you're more than welcome to.
Probably about 30 to 100 I would say because I don't know who's coming.
We'll put it up as an event and try and gauge who's coming.
But like I said, the thing is a mum might come but then she might bring grandma and then so-and-so might tag along so that's three.
That's three people in there, you know.
So if you want to do that, I'm more than happy for you to do like leaflets with as long as the mothers are having a discount or something beneficial to them that'd be lovely.
That'd be great.
And if it's a food one make sure you've got your allergy information on the packets.
And if it's wax melts, make sure you've got your you won't be there.
We'll just lay them out on a table of samples for the mothers.
Unless you want to hang around and volunteer.
More than welcome.
Right, what's the time now?
Because I've got to go cardiff now.
Oh, I'll pack up now.
Right, try guys!
