Oh, we've got hundreds of these things - 11 Dec 2025 - (2,708 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank
Oh, we've got hundreds of these things.
We could literally build one of these ball towers the size of the leaning tower of pizza.
Right, I'm doing well.
But I mean look, this is beautiful.
You know, a little girl would love that.
It's going to be like £3.50.
Unless I got the full set, it's going to be like £3.50.
So you can now circumnavigate around by here a little bit.
Thank you to the customers this morning that's come in and worked with us.
There's only been one that's gone eeeh, when they've come in.
But thank you, OK?
Because it is difficult to get around.
We know that.
But I needed to get on with these toys today.
I've done quite a few.
I thought I'd just done a live video of this.
I don't know...
Oh, don't rain now.
I've got to cover those because I think it's going to rain.
Look at that.
I've literally had sun streaming through over there today.
They've worked hard on that.
Right, I've priced all them up.
Cheap.
Well, they fill a bag for a fiver anyway, those ones, don't they?
Anything £5 an under.
That's not a figure.
Look, it's right the way down to here now.
I don't know...
I'm going away from the Wi-Fi now.
I don't know if I get in there anymore.
But, yeah, it's a bit surreal, isn't it?
Surreal, seeing this come down.
Anyway, I might have to get some stuff in now.
Because it does look like the end is nigh.
Looks like it's going to rain.
I've got some shoes.
I've got one odd one.
I don't know if he's going to show up.
What's in that bag there?
I'm not going to have to miss that bit, are they?
Oh, no, it's just the bag.
They've been done.
So they've got a bit of washing.
I haven't done the games because they've got to sit down and do the games or we lose all the bits.
I've got a couple of bags I haven't opened, but we're getting there now.
So thank you to everybody there.
We've had some lovely hidden little gems in there, you know.
Nice bits some more, have you?
But yes, thank you because we know you've had to circumnavigate more than usual today.
So I do appreciate it.
So a lot of it now is like finding all the little slides which are all in there.
I needed to whittle it down to get to like a little army set in there, you know.
So I need a little bag, put all that in there now.
I think that's going to be priced inside that little cot thing.
The little cot thing can go for £2.
I think most of that's priced, but I've checked a bit more in there.
So I've had a look and then I've got to get that little caravan thing.
Make sure he's all sorted and back up.
Somebody bought my picture of this and we put that little thing on there, look.
For things like that, but I mean, you know, it'll still work, won't it?
Don't need to check things out just because they're missing bits.
It'll still work.
I need somebody to display that caravan.
I've got to wipe this thing because the sign come down in the wind.
So I've just got to have a wipe and then Dan's going to have to get that back up.
And then I've got these really heavy things.
Somebody's given up on their New Year's resolution before they've even started.
Got some little bits of games they might have come out of.
You did your first, some good stuff.
Yes, we do.
Brilliant stuff.
Always do.
We have a lot of it, don't we?
And that's our biggest challenge, isn't it, guys?
That we have so much stuff to keep on top of.
I haven't had my pasta yet.
I might warm that up now.
I'm having my pasta while I'm doing these bits, I think.
Some of it needs a clean, that sounds quite minging.
And then they're like bits and bobs.
I know we got this over Pontypool, but I don't think we got any of it used.
We might need to go over Pontypool to figure out what this thing is.
Sometimes you've got to Google apart.
I know I've got a box of these and I had the box of these.
It was stuck missing and I put the box down somewhere.
But I'm sure it'll come up.
You've just got to spend the time, I mean, you guys, working through it.
You know, it's easier if you can do it for us.
Well, before it comes in and package all the bits up.
Like this little, pretty little thing.
Need to wipe.
So we would prefer it if you could do this, guys.
Because, look, it does need cleaning.
Package it all up with the bits.
Because it's a lot quicker for us.
We can get it, the turnaround, we can get it back out, you know.
You know, get the children to do it.
Sit them down, bowl of water and a cloth.
And say, right, we're donating these to our children.
But they need to be cleaned before they've got to go.
You know, it's all about teaching them as well.
Oh, look at the little toilet in there.
Look at that.
That's cool.
I think it's the toilet.
And say to them, right, no, you've got to learn to clean your toys.
And, you know, pass them out.
Because if these had gone to any other shop, they'd have been binned.
Because of the state of them.
I can tell you that now.
This Polly Pocket set.
Because they haven't got the staff all the time.
And it's not their focus to restore.
Their focus is to flip stuff as quick as possible.
To raise money for their charities.
Our focus is different.
Our focus is restoring it.
And recycling it.
And seeing if we can fundraise or give it to another home.
For free.
To help people.
I don't know much about this because I'm not on the tube.
I don't know what this is.
I thought it was part of the army set.
But I'm not convinced now.
Because I have a flower that goes with it.
And I'm like, what is this?
What is this?
What is this box?
That's missing a few bits.
Now, see that would be binned elsewhere.
Because it hasn't got the pie pieces.
Right?
But we keep the pie pieces.
We keep all the bits from the game.
So we have got spare Trivial Pursuit ones.
In Pontypool.
In the little figure basket I think they are.
Don't buy new for Christmas guys.
We're trying to support sustainable Christmases now.
Because look, this only needs a wipe over.
I've got the little slides that are in that box.
I'm going to try and dig them all out now.
How much would this be online if you were to buy it?
It's probably about £30 I expect.
It's Polly Pocket branded.
But this is what takes the time you see.
Is the cleaning of it.
And the putting it and finding all the bits.
This is what we need you guys to do now.
We need you to do it.
Or we need volunteers to come in and do the ones that have slipped the net.
Amateurity shops wouldn't have accepted this.
Because they would have said no that's too dirty.
Sorry.
And we haven't got the staff and the time to clean it.
That's not their focus.
Our focus is restoring.
And saving it from landfill.
The other thing is I know some mothers get rid of stuff without the children knowing.
But you have to say to them.
You have to say to the children.
We have to get rid of some items now.
Because they are no longer feasible for you.
And you are having new stuff.
And there are children out there that want these stuff.
And perhaps their parents can't afford it.
You have to sit them down and say this is how the world is going to work.
You don't bring the stuff when you are fed up with it.
You are cleaning up.
The other thing is I see a lot of mothers taking them to car boots.
With their toys or having little stalls outside the house.
And sitting them out there in the spring.
It's always good isn't it?
Because it teaches them that there is a value in old stuff that you no longer want as well.
So you know.
There are ways of doing it.
I see a lot of children and I always stop.
We do always stop if we see kids or anything on the side of the road selling stuff.
Like what's this then?
What's this?
Go on then we will buy it all.
It's good for them to learn as well isn't it?
And for them to imagine where it's going to go next.
It's lovely isn't it?
I bet it was expensive to buy.
I've been waiting to clean this up.
This is cool look.
I love all these little things.
But they all need a wipe over.
And that's the time consuming bit.
We don't put it out if it's too dirty.
So yeah thank you for dealing with the amount of stuff I've had everywhere today.
Getting a bit cold out.
I'm not ready yet.
Because I've got to get those boxes and all in.
To do with two.
I think I need two plastic covers here in Cuffinley.
So I'll order another one.
For the winter.
It buys you a bit of time see.
Because you can't get it all in safely and quickly.
It's fiddly this thing.
It's all in the groove see.
I
need to find my bits now.
How's it going for this thing?
It's lovely.
Can you get them?
Bringing it down.
It's so easy to give up when you've got a box like this.
I've got some miscellaneous junk everywhere.
But you'll get there.
Just keep working it you know.
That's what I do.
I knew I was going to be doing it today.
I felt motivated to do it today.
And I thought well I've got my pasta.
And then.
Taking a bottle of coke.
Taking my wool mask that I had to put on my back.
I don't think that's part of it.
I thought it was.
But you'll get there you know.
It's so easy to give up when you get to a box like that.
But sometimes.
And that's where I found that little lead farm.
Which is worth quite a bit.
At the bottom of a box like that.
Kicking around the bottom of a bag it was.
But that's worth quite a bit.
That's where you'll find the good stuff.
At the bottom.
I don't know where these little slides are going to go.
Got one here.
That's going to be a top one.
Surely if it's got a little archway.
So I don't know what time I'll go tonight.
I don't want to say I'll be here until 6.

This is what's happened.
Somebody's had it and they've gone aww I can't be bothered with this.
That's what's happened to it.
Somebody's gone it's too complicated.
It's going to take too long for me to sort out.
And I can't be bothered.
It makes sense.
Let's see.
It doesn't seem to be clicking on sideways.
It's got to be part of it because it's all the same colour.
It won't clip in.
It looks like it's going to clip in and then it's like no I'm not going to clip in.
Oh there we are sideways parts.
Well no that's upside down.
That's why you don't look right.
Perhaps it goes like that.
I don't really know.
I think it is missing a bit.
It might be missing more than one bit.
Keep your eye out in the other shops for this bit of stuff.
It might be.
It's in the bottom of the bottle.
It might have tipped out in my car you know.
But I think what we'll do is just place them up and then
hope for the best.
So if we put £2 on him.
£2 please.
Missing parts.
Because it is collectible and you could get a boy man in here trying to buy it.
Just to set it on because they will get something for it.
But what we can do is just keep it.
Unless somebody wants it.
Until we find the bits perhaps.
They could be kicking around.
And sometimes what we find is mums will do a sort out.
Right.
And then they will do another sort out the following week.
And then the other bits or the other shoe comes in.
In that box.
Because they missed it the first time round.
So I'd rather not lose that.
Ooh a good part there.
I'd rather not.
Ooh look.
£50 note.
I'd rather not bin it.
Definitely not a good luck.
I've seen another shoe somewhere.
Let's see if we can tidy up this poor mumy.
Does it look like a state honour?
Let's see if we can do that.
This is a bit broke but I thought well somebody might have that.
To do craft with or something wouldn't they?
Don't chuck stuff in there because somebody will have it.
It does have a squashed Mars bar on the head.
But I'm sure I'll get that off now.
But what this is what we need you to do now is not throw stuff in bags because it's too time consuming.
Somebody will have him and paint him and do something with him.
It's too time consuming for us.
We need you to clean it now and put it in the set before it comes in please.
Let's have a look at this mermaid.
Fishing up on it.
I think it's more I think we've cut the fishing hook off.
I think that's a bit too dangerous for the shop.
Fishing up is a nasty thing.
The scissors.
Can't get it off though.
Figure it out.
It's pretty easy and it's already in.
I could have run out there seeing all those boxes of toys in.
But a few people are in today though.
I don't know about the other shops.
Have a chance to check how they've been doing.
I know one of our raffle ladies came forward.
She'd been in shopping again and didn't realise she'd won.
That's cool.
She managed to spend £12.50 over £20 winning.
It's hard in our shop.
It is hard.
To get up to £20.
There we are.
Doesn't look so hideous now does she?
I'm sure somebody will give her a loving home.
But it could have easily got mixed up with the toys there couldn't it?
See this is why you have to go through everything.
Could have easily got mixed up with the toys.
Oh it's not a fish.
It's just a hook.
But it could have been nasty there couldn't it?
I'm sure somebody will adopt terrifying mummy.
Some flash cards there.
I think I'm out of stickers now.
Oh you've got my stickers.
Right guys.
I might do my pasta now.
We could literally build one of these ball towers the size of the leaning tower of pizza.
Right, I'm doing well.
But I mean look, this is beautiful.
