Right, mums, families, nans, grands, grandpas, - 21 Nov 2025 - (3,344 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank
Right, mums, families, nans, grands, grandpas, dads, anybody who's listening, we have access to a premises in Rudry.
Now, I've asked the people where the premises is offered it up, okay?
Are they happy to help?
Are they aware of how much stock we will get in?
Okay, I've asked them to have a double think about it because we know how much stock can come in in a day.
Okay, so they are based in Rudry.
They have a fairly large premises.
I should imagine probably about the size of this room, maybe a bit bigger.
They are happy to store donations for us and sort them.
So, would you, like this facility, to take on donations for us?
Look at him.
Side track.
To take toy donations down to?
Primarily toys, children's books, right?
Good condition, not dirty, not wrecked, nor needing washing, guys, because we're very busy this time of the year.
You can take down your donations, leave them there, and then if they've sorted donations over here, you can pick what you would like to take for free for your children for Christmas.
Would you like to do that?
We can also do it with children's clothes and baby clothes.
But I need you to try and stick to what it is.
What I don't want is somebody dropping off 60 million trays of books, adult books, novels, to this place where we've all got to cart it off from after Christmas, okay?
It needs to be toys and things like that, that families are going to need to get them through Christmas.
Blankets to get them through Christmas.
Warm towels like this to get them, you know, because you can put a towel over the bed, a towel can be quite warm.
Put that over the bed, yeah?
It needs to be things like that.
But I don't want to fill up this lady's garage and then nothing gets taken out from there either.
And I don't want this lady to be dumped on flytip and with piles of crap that's just been emptied out of toy boxes, loads of fiddly bits of toys that need to be sorted.
We need you to start sorting your donations before they come in, okay?
Because I'm still sorting out this bag that was left out by there this morning and that's all I've done all day, right?
Is sorting out this bag of itty-bitty stuff.
This could have been dealt with before it came in, yeah?
That could have been pulled out of there before it came in and that could have been stuck to it so we knew it was that and that could have been put in a little bag so we knew that was a set.
Stickers could have been pulled off them before they come in, right?
Because this is the time-consuming part is the cleaning and the checking.
This has come in no head.
So do you see like that is no good?
Give it away for free, right?
I'll put it there now.
One of my items are gone now.
I'll put it there.
If anybody wants it, they can take it.
If they don't want it, it'll be recycled because it hasn't got a head.
So somebody might have it just for the car, you know?
But we need you to start sorting these donations out, yeah?
I'm not sure if this will come in and is broken, okay?
We don't want it if it's broken or if it's stinking dirty because we haven't got the time to deal with it, yeah?
You need to start cleaning your donations before they come in.
Otherwise we will refuse them at the door.
Now what I don't want is this family to be swamped with stuff that is stinking and needs tons and tons of work because we're doing this so that we can get toys, books, games out to families for Christmas.
There's no point sending them out a game if this part's missing.
If you've got a Scrabble and you know there's 20 letters missing, write on the box, this is Scrabble, tape it up.
It's got 20 letters missing.
Write it on the box because somebody might say, oh can I have that Scrabble because I got 20 letters missing and it might just make my Scrabble complete.
But don't just drop stuff off guys, okay?
It needs to be sorted.
So would you like to have this opportunity before we use it as storage to do a toy event and a Christmas event?
You can drop Christmas decks off there as well if you like because people will use them I'm sure.
The only thing is we can't just give up the electricals, any electricals that come over, we won't be able to give them up.
They've got to be put to one side because they're going to be tested.
So what do you think?
Let me know what you think.
We have this opportunity now.
I could have said no, I'll use it just for storage and we'll just put stuff in there until we get a chance to price it and sort it.
That's a nice fancy dress.
But I haven't.
I've said we'll use it to do and it's not free for resellers and it's not free for people to sell on the toys and if you get caught we will out you on Facebook.
Right?
We know that because there's CCTV in this particular place.
So we'll nose back and forth there and you'll be monitored anyway.
So we will catch you so don't even think you'll be able to go down there and take a load of stuff for free and put it on Facebook for sale.
Okay?
So let me know what you want to do.
I can always just use it as storage and people drop all their donations down there and then I can sort them out when they come back off holiday or ask the volunteers to go down there and sort them.
But I'm just thinking now we could do it as an event.
It's like these flashcards I've gone through and some of them haven't got their fronts, they've only got their bums.
So I've taken them out and I've said well there's ten, there's supposed to be sixteen in there, there's ten in there and I've written it on the front of the box.
Somebody might still have them because it's still usable with just ten flashcards isn't it?
The rest of the flashcards will probably have to be recycled you know.
But take them out, tape up the boxes because the box is where everything is falling out of them is a nuisance in the shops, it's a nuisance for staff.
You know if you've got a jig so you've got two pieces missing don't even bring it to us right?
Put it on Facebook for free if nobody wants to put it in your recycling bin.
So I'm happy to do this, it'll be based at Rudry and you can just go in and at certain times we'll put the times and the dates that you go in drop off stuff that you've got and then have a look at the other toys, take what you want for your children, your grandchildren.
Baby equipment, I'm sure there'll be baby equipment over there when they're baths and bouncers and blooming, you name it it'll be over there mouses baskets like spec, breeding in the corner we start off with two and end up with forty.
And Sammy's hoard of mouses baskets and all is building up again and it'll be quiet over Christmas so if anybody is due to have a baby and you need to be at least third trimester right because we don't want to be giving them out if you're only a couple of weeks pregnant okay because we lose a lot of stock by doing that sometimes because some things happen Okay,
we won't go into it, but sometimes stuff happens, doesn't it?
So if you're in third trimester and you are entitled to, well everybody, every mother in Wales, as long as you can pick up, you can have a bundle.
Note to three, note to 12 months, we are low on the bigger sizes, so we might only do note to six months, because we get a lot of note to six months in and the other stuff flies out.
So we might do a note to six months bundle where you can come in, have a Moses basket, and you can have up to two Moses baskets, because I don't want you carrying a Moses basket up and down stairs after you've given birth.
And some people may pick up a Moses basket with a baby in and carry it upstairs to go to bed, and the baby could fall out.
So I'd rather you have two Moses baskets if you need them, one downstairs and one upstairs.
Or you can choose a baby bath, or you can choose a play mat, or you can have all four.
It's entirely up to you.
All the stock that we use is pre-loved, and Sami puts books in there and little toys in there as well.
So she does a nice bundle.
If you have one of Daniel, they'll all be shoved in a carrier bag and not folded, so don't have one of him.
He needs training on bundles.
But if you would like a bundle made up over Christmas, because that's when we've got the time to do it, that's when we're short staffed, and I'm away, and we haven't got many customers from Christmas to New Year.
So sometimes they shut the shops and just come in and pull it out, do a deep clean and say, well, I don't like those cupboards, but they're, and we'd be wanting to move them, but we've got to change the fire plan.
So can we move them now?
And we go, yes, right, move that there, right, there's the fire plan to support it.
Right?
So that's why I always say to volunteers, don't move furniture around because it's on the fire plan.
But then if they say, look, this table is doing our nutting by your time, Jane, and actually we could utilize it over here and it'd be more, it would be better.
So do that on that week where we know we're quiet.
And then while they're in that corner, they'll do a deep clean, pull it all out and go from there.
Okay.
So would you like to have that opportunity of a toy exchange event up until Christmas?
Because I'm turning down toys 24 seven because we haven't got room for them.
All free.
I'm not looking to make a donation if you want, but you don't have to.
And the weekend is when I'm probably going to print off the forms for the order forms.
So if there's anything on the, the reusable sanitary items, we've had our grant double because I, I said to them by four councils, because I said to them, I would know, I can't have a grant for sanitary items and pay the electric bill.
You're not allowed to do that.
You can't have a grant for apples and buy pays with it.
Right.
If you have a, if I have a grant for carpets, I got to buy carpets.
Okay.
That's the way it works.
I cannot use this money for anything else other than sustainable period products and period products.
So if you want any of the sustainable products, because they said that some of the other groups only want the disposables and they, they, they've been told, some of them have said, no, you've got to have 75% sustainable.
I said, that's not a problem.
We can do 100% sustainable if you want.
I said, we can push that narrative.
You're not a problem.
We can push that stock for you.
Cause I know my, my mother's would, if they could afford to buy all of the washable period pants, they would, but you can't afford to buy them.
They're so expensive.
So if we're going to get them in our grant, it doesn't affect me because it's extra money we've been given for those products.
So if you need those products, it's not going to affect the baby bank at all.
It's only time consuming for us.
This is going to be.
So let me know if you want any of those by the weekend and I will order specific sizes for you and then fill up the grant with the rest of products we can put on there.
But we do have this premises available in Rudry to us now.
If you would like to go back and forth, please remember it is a family and the family are going to run this for us.
To help families out over Christmas with toys and games and jigsaws and baby stuff and whatever else goes in over there.
The only thing they won't be able to give out is if it's something that's vintage, because it has to be labelled as vintage because of fire regulations and CE trading standards regulations.
Hence that's why we've registered also as a vintage shop.
And I don't just write vintage on everything.
It's vintage for a reason.
And obviously electricals.
And obviously if they had something like a PS2 in, they would probably ring fence that and say Jane, we've got a PS2, which would need to be tested anyway because it's electrical.
But they would say we've got a PS2 that's come in or an Xbox or whatever, 360 and say, you see how well detached I am, can't you?
We think you'd probably get more for that if you put it in the window of the charity shop.
Do you want to do that?
I don't mind.
Computer games I've not worried about so much on their own because we don't get a lot of money for computer games anymore.
Just the way it goes.
It's funny and it's like VHS is one of our top sellers now.
Whereas computer games isn't.
What do you think?
Do you want to do it?
It's up to you.
I can just use it as storage and take them back off Christmas and then we can attack it then and see where we can get shifted from there.
Or do you want us to have it specifically for children's and baby staff before Christmas and you go and exchange it all for free?
There's no skin off my nose because the shops will still be open.
They've offered this premises up for us for free for temporary and it's not costing me anything to do other than I might need extra volunteers over there and you probably you know as long as the family like you when you get on with the family I'm quite sure they'll accept you to be a volunteer over there.
So what do you want to do?
It's entirely up to you.
I don't mind.
We can just use it as storage and say right all your donations got to go over there but you know before Christmas it's going to get full and I got to shut it down come back off Christmas and then work those donations.
Or we can have it where they're rolling you bring in two bags and you take out one bag with you and stuff books or whatever coloring books whatever comes in in there.
What do you think?
The family I've asked them to go away and have a think about it and they've come back to me and said yes they're willing to do it.
It's a nan and a granddaughter it is.
They're willing to do it.
Very kind of them as well so thank you very much for offering it up.
But if we get anybody this obviously takes the mick and it's being sold on or they're resellers or you know obviously we've got a list of people who will not to use our facilities.
If they turn up obviously then we'll have to shut it down because I'm not dealing with that this side of Christmas.
I'm on a nice wind down now up until Christmas and I don't want to be bothered and I can't wait to go on holiday and I don't need the hassle and the stress of resellers and painting the arses over there.
Upsetting the family just giving up their time for us.
So you let me know now you can drop Christmas stuff over there but anything electrical like lights they wouldn't be able to give you straight back out because it's got to be tested by law.
Okay or anything that's damaged they'd have to put the one side because even though you get damaged stuff right then see I got a member of HCT now like I'll screenshot that she's gone now look she's a member of HCT and she's just logged in given it all of this on the page the other day she was right uh Whittingham or something she's called right yeah she just logged into our live but of course she's logged into our live but she's not one of our friends so she can't comment in the post but she just logged in but I was just going to screenshot it then but she realized I said the HCT didn't she so I'll get her next time I'll get the bitch next time we'll have her Anyway,
the toxicity of that group might disperse once the head of the snake is gone.
However, I don't think she's going.
I think she's going to be a volunteer with significant control.
Because we all know that Wassily is her puppet.
That little old lady is her puppet.
So she's just dropping down because she knows as a trustee she cannot run that trustee with record.
And the criminal record is a community resolution order.
And all the stuff is going on at the moment and my complaints specifically.
Anyway, let's not give them any more time.
Do you want to do it?
Do a toy exchange.
Because I can't do a Christmas event because my shops are too full.
And Santa's are all booked up now.
And Dan makes a useless Santa because they'll go up there and he'll just whine about them.
Whine to the kids and depress all the kids.
My mother makes me do this job.
And my dad can do it for a little bit but not long periods of time.
So we can't do a Christmas event this year.
I'm not well enough.
I needed a break.
So do you want to do this and just do a toy exchange?
Drop off what you don't want.
I don't know.
As Sami said when she was on the toy box video the other night is little, you know, May she was into Toy Story.
Now she's into Spider-Man.
So she's bought all Toy Story stuff.
Luckily she got it from us.
And now she's had to go and get Spider-Man stuff for Christmas.
You know, you know what children are like.
So do you want to do that?
I'm more than happy to do an exchange.
A toy exchange before Christmas.
But you, you know, I don't want family hanging around sorting donations in the cold, in their premises.
I mean, it might not be cold.
They might have full central heating.
I don't know.
But you know what I mean.
It's that time of year.
Whereas if you want to do the exchange with the toys, I think that'll be nice before Christmas to do.
Because it's coming quick in it guys.
And there isn't a lot of money about in time for Christmas is there?
So let me know what you want to do guys.
Now, I've asked the people where the premises is offered it up, okay?
