Come on Caerphilly - 24 Oct 2025 - (2,454 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank

Come on Caerphilly!
Risk Pondy Poe's beating us with their sales today.
I'm expecting our shop to be empty tomorrow at the stage we were at today and yesterday, Sammy.
Look at this.
Beautiful.
I don't know what age is.
It's beautiful.
We've got a lot of area to cover.
These these postcards are working but we look at the area we've got to cover.
So we might have to get Royal Mail to help us out.
So anyway, I've made a right mess and gained about two
Thank you to the customers come out today.
It's a crap day.
I've had a move around with some stuff.
I put that up there now.
I bet it'll go.
So I'm still not where I'd like to be here.
I've got those out ready now.
Let's try and get him to get either in there or the next one at whatever's easiest to start putting the books for the free library for the others, right?
That's a bit of a mess because customer wanted to get them at the cupboard.
So I just told them to go in there and do it.
I've lost it.
I managed to lose one card box but they are a bit.
We need people to come and buy them.
Come and buy them.
Buy you for a pound or something.
Right, so let's have a look.
Got the expensive toys out of the window and put them there because I don't think they're gonna be long-around ones in the packet.
That's a bit iggily-piggily.
This is always a mess.
I'd like to sort this out today before I go.
Then we had a downpour of rain which was a nightmare.
I've put a pile of cookery books.
There's more cookery books now but it would be too high.
Put a pile of cookery books in the window for people to start looking at.
We've got the rebones in there and then the anatomy ones and all the medical books.
Some other books.
I could have got more in the cupboard but it's gonna be difficult to get out anyway so I just don't know.
Oh they've got wet.
Look, it's my fault.
Totally my fault.
Sack me.
I didn't realise it was coming down that bad.
And then I've put some coats up there and it's not too dark but I could do it some more.
I don't know if we'll get in there now because that's gonna annoy me now.
There's a gap.
I've found another blanket.
The lady was looking at this blanket by ear and that one.
They're quite expensive.
They are knitted by the ladies in the nursing homes.
But I could do another hook there and I've hung up some of the children's clothes but we still got more light than when we had the cot up there which is good.
And then I'm gonna see if I can get in by there now and hang a few more around there.
I want Dan with his hooks.
I want some more there.
Don't worry about the front yet because I've just done the window so we'll worry about the front in January.
Cross the shelf there.
Cross the ends of the cabinets there and at the top.
We haven't done that bit.
We need to look for the wood bit and see how thick it is.
You can put some across there, some across there.
What we needed was hanging basket hangers didn't we out here.
That's what we said.
We don't think I've got any.
I don't think I've seen any.
Well we probably have but so they hopefully they will be gone.
What else can we put up there?
Might be able to get the car seats might be able to go up there but then we got a lot of bric-a-brac that might not.
We'll have a think now.
He's gonna get the suitcases behind there on the suitcase wall.
Don't pay full price for suitcases.
Come to us first guys.
We've got loads and they're good too.
I got a lady interested in this.
What else was she interested in?
Oh the telly.
She bought loads of stuff this morning.
Lovely.
And she was another lady that had a postcard through her door and didn't realise we were here.
So I think we're gonna have to get a roll of mail to give us a hand.
One tipping down.
I've been forcing a few every day but I can't do no more than 20 when my knee is bad and they got to be terrorists or they're right next to each other.
So I'm literally doing two at a time because I'm like... Dan will do a few more on Sunday.
I'll get a few more ready for him.
We've got hooks.
Oh but they're gonna be a nuisance by the door and we're gonna have door curtains now guys.
Which will be a nuisance if you've got sticks, simmers and prams but I need to think of the staff now.
They froze their arse off for five years.
We might as well have a nice door curtain to keep the heat in.
Okay?
So me and Sammy don't feel it see but I feel it when I stop.
So when I stop I'm like oh I'm really really cold.
But when I'm on the go I don't feel it.
I know as long as I got a good jumper on and I got my foodies on under here look.
Jayne's Baby Bank 250.
Jayne's Baby Bank a pound.
Jayne's Baby Bank 250.
Jayne's Baby Bank a pound.
Bargain.
Can't go wrong.
I've got the advent calendars out because I don't think they're gonna be around long.
They are those type of crystals.
But it's got a bit iggledy-piggledy again.
When we put different stuff out we haven't put the other stuff back and then you've got teddies over there and you've got biscuit barrels over there and then you've got toilet roll holders over there and then you've got wool over you and it's like oh hang on now.
So it needs to be streamlined putting everything back where it's got to go again.
And we will.
You know we know we will.
We'll get it.
This is the worst because Daniel cleaned it up.
So I want to try.
I cleaned it up last week didn't he?
And now it's a mess again.
So I'll try and do that.
I don't know if I can get the suitcases behind there without dying a death on that thing.
I'll have a go.
I'll have a go won't I?
But it's not too bad the window.
I can get some more up there.
I've hung those up now.
I can't believe I'm actually gore in this shop.
It was really deceiving one of this shop.
It was really deceiving.
We got a lot of gear in this shop they play.
Where did the mud come from on them?
I didn't see that when I priced them up.
Should I give them a wipe over?
So yeah can't really see in the cupboards at the moment because we've got too much in front of them again.
And we could I could do with somebody coming in to sort out the books into like sections like into books now like all the cookery all the fitness you know make sure there's no novels.
I could do with that.
They're gonna be free tomorrow to do it.
We've still got this bike I need it gone because the mothers are complaining they can't get in through the door and I can't put out the front it's gonna be gone and I can't put it in here because you know I won't be able to get in.
So I got these bikes I got three children's bikes come on don't sit on these things they gotta go.
We'll be running in here now two days before Christmas.
Have we got any bikes?
Nope.
Gone.
Went in October.
And then I've got another box for the toys so we might be able to condense the toys better.
We still needed a cupboard there and I still needed CD racks for this shop I can still get CD racks in.
You put all hooks up there look but we aren't using them so we need to do that.
So we'll have a look at that now tomorrow and today.
I'm not sure if this is a mark or whether it's the shading on the dog.
And like Dan hang it up.
No I think it's a mark.
But I'm not sure if it's the shading on the dog.
I think we'll take it off.
Look it's a mark we'll try and clean him up.
Right so this bit is a bit all over the place now.
That's somebody in there looking at the rave way see.
And this lot has all been pulled out so I don't think it's gonna take that much to get it back in.
But that should go up there.
We can still put all the elements in there let's see.
And that will either be like in that gap or that gap for the books to go on for the mothers.
Well that dress is here I need that gone guys Come on these things are taking up room then.
Oh I seen the boxes to this.
The pink box in my porch.
Pink boxes to this in my porch.
Keep an eye out just in case they're in for that.
But I'm pretty sure it is.
They were in my porch all along.
What's going on over there?
Oh it's a big vase.
I sold a big vase yeah.
Oh look it's Xmas paper there that.
Xbox ones.
So there is quite a bit I think it just needs condensing again now.
Pull another box out the back then see.
Condense it down in there.
Keep going.
Yes we had a good deal with Pontypool on yesterday well done.
Because we were a bit, it was dreadful in September.
I'm not going to lie to you guys.
Blimey night.
So Ami messaged me and said oh I think I've sold the Dolphins too cheap.
I've done something wrong.
Oh my god don't sack me.
I was like what?
She said oh I've sold them.
And she'd done like an 85 pound sale or something.
To get up on the thing and I was like what?
I said oh I don't care they sound hideous.
I don't care what you've sold them for.
She's like oh don't sack me.
I said oh don't worry about it.
But I think it coincided with the schools going back.
And everybody got by uniform and bags and everything else haven't they?
And with Poundland closing down and of course everybody went to Poundland.
And they were a bit naughty because they were like 75% off until you got to the till.
And then it was like only off clothes and candles or something ridiculous like that.
I'd worn off anything else.
But everybody had filled up their trolleys.
And thought they were going to get a bargain and they didn't.
So we were a bit naughty weren't they?
So I think that's what it coincided with and it seems to have picked up now again.
So that's good.
I think we're doing remarkably well considering what is going on in the economic climate up there.
And we're down you know we're down a back road here.
You know Pontypool is a bit it's in.
So you can't see the shop really unless you've got all the stuff out.
I think we're doing okay considering everybody else is folding like blooming the house of cards there.
But we could do with some more footfall because we don't want the haters complaining about how much stuff we got.
And the counter going oh we're doing much stuff.
Do we?
Which they say every time they come in.
But I'm like well what do you want me to do about it like?
So well they're like oh can you move it somewhere else?
I'm like well where?
Would you want to get me a weird house?
Would you want the council to rent me out a unit somewhere?
They should do because I've always a lot of this would end up in landfill.
If it weren't for us.
I've asked them and I've actually asked them to say can you do something to like you know rent a place out for us to keep stuff.
What are they doing with the top floor of the blooming council offices?
Go fill that.
They're supposed to be renting those two floors out in there.
Well I think the window looks tidier now.
Shifting those two big piles of books for there.
But we could do it going through the books and sorting the books now into cookery, sport, fishing, whatever they are sport you know.
Doing that and then writing on the box is where they are putting them in piles again because they are a bit everywhere the books but not the ones in the cabinets and the windows because they're in there for a reason.
But the other books the cheaper books.
That's what I need somebody in if somebody's free to do that tomorrow and wants to sit on the floor and do that.
Make sure you leave a space for the customers to come through though.
Don't just do it in the middle of there because otherwise customers have to step over you.
What else?
Well we did the baby clothes and they're not too bad but that could do with a tidy up room over there as well.
I'll see where I can get done now.
Because he had that looking quite nice didn't he?
It was tidier this week.
But I was up there doing something and the customer was like oh I want this out the cabinet.
Oh just put it all out the way.
I'll sort it out but I might be able to get that one chair up there because stuff will still be able to go.
It's only the legs isn't it?
I'm reluctant to put the chest of drawers up there because I think they might go now people can see them a bit better.
Oh tired now.
Right let's have a go.
Let's see if I can get the suitcase is shifted.
I don't know if he might need to do that because he's taller than me.
I'm too short for this job.
Have a look now.
See what I can do.
