So hi guys. Roy and Helen have been here all day. - 6 Oct 2025 - (1,216 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank
So hi guys.
Roy and Helen have been here all day.
Viv's been here all day.
I can't take any credit for this because you know I'm organized chaos.
They've had a massive clean up today.
I'm so chuffed because we are literally charity shop fatigued.
So yeah, they've had a massive clean up.
We haven't sorted that out but it's tidier in there.
Look at this.
There we are.
J’armarnis Charity Boutique.
Got to thank the Girls in Arby's Cafe for that one.
That wasn't my creation.
So yeah, we've got the slack wall.
I don't know if you can see them down there.
Like they have in the shops to hang the clothes off.
So they'll be going up there.
We'll have shelves put in there.
Possibly shelves will be there.
Might take the door off because we don't need the door.
We've got a bit of a leak there but the boys will be on that tomorrow.
This bit will need to be tidied up.
We've got tons of wood left.
We've got room over there for shelves.
I mean most slack walls might come up.
I can get at least another load in here, can't I?
So I'm absolutely over the moon with this.
I've got all my paint there ready.
I've had all that since we moved in.
I've had all of that.
So I'm ready now.
I've got to get these walls done tomorrow.
And get it down.
Do the ceiling.
Get everything down.
Clean them down.
Get the rails up.
Get those boutique clothes in here.
Absolutely chuffed with this.
Viv and Helen have been working on this all day.
I was going to start the toilet and then other things happened so I didn't get around to doing that.
We've got the light on but it's staying on too long now.
And they... Viv and Helen haven't stopped in here all day.
Fair play to them.
I've just been dithering around trying to put stuff away because you know me.
Organised chaos.
But look.
Look how wide the walkways are now.
Absolutely fab.
Roy's just measured up for more shelves here.
Absolutely fabulous we are.
Look at this.
This is it.
We'll try and get that sorted tomorrow.
There's mainly baby stuff there now so it's literally just get it on the shelves tidy.
We haven't stopped all day.
The boxes are full with stuff.
We have more scarfs in and stuff.
So this pile will be gone.
This pile will be gone.
Those three rails and everything that's left on the table will all be in the J’armarnis boutique.
And then we'll just have our £2 and our 50p's out here.
It's easier for customers then.
They know the price range.
Prices are up.
Loads of designer stuff coming in again today.
Loads of beautiful donations again.
Thank you everybody who's donated.
Our beautiful dresses are up.
So yeah.
Absolutely brilliant.
And what a difference it makes having the light on.
It's crazy isn't it?
Just something simple like that.
Because it was well lit anyway wasn't it?
From the skylights.
But what a difference that's made.
And of course customers can see the lights on the road now as well.
This was all blocked up look.
So we can bring this bit back a bit now.
Giving us a little bit more room down by there.
But the plan is to work on getting shelves up now.
I've ordered 20 shelf brackets and I've got some shelf brackets already here.
Some of the Christmas stuff went out today.
So yeah.
Look at the walkways now.
Absolutely brilliant.
Brilliant isn't it?
They can come to my house next.
Fab.
That's what we need to see.
That's why I need volunteers.
Because we've been doing this now for two years.
And we're exhausted.
Absolutely.
Don't forget we don't take a wage.
We don't take petrol expenses.
So you know.
It is exhausting.
And you know.
I think it was Charlotte who said Jane works 20 hours a day.
I do work 20 hours a day.
That's crazy isn't it?
That's because Primary only sleeps two hours a night.
If I'm lucky.
So I wouldn't have it any other way mind.
I love that.
I like to maximise my days the best I can.
But yeah.
How fab is that?
They even had a go behind it.
Didn't do the kitchen today.
That was fab last time.
No problems with the kitchen.
So we need some other tools to deal with that.
But we'll get it up.
We'll get it up you know.
So they've had a tidy up behind there.
I've got to bolt my till down now.
Bolt it down to a breeze block.
The sink.
I didn't realise the sink was in.
I didn't even see that yesterday.
So yeah.
Brilliant isn't it?
I mean I might put some of the counter stuff in that other room.
Like for example.
If I can get.
Well I might leave them there.
If I can get some more of these cupboards.
I might leave them there.
And get some more glass ones in the boutique.
And then a bigger.
We can put the football shirts and stuff in there.
And display them properly.
Because they're slow movers.
Because it's only something that a collector is going to be looking for you see.
So.
Absolutely fab.
And look at it with the lights on.
I'm going to order some backdrops.
Do a grotto.
And then.
But we have backdrops for every sort of event.
So like Christmas.
Chinese New Year.
Whatever you can think of really.
Easter.
Spring.
Autumn.
And then you can come in and take pictures on your phone of the children yourself.
And it's not costing you anything.
You haven't got to go to a photographer.
I mean I don't know how much the school photographers cost now.
Or the nursery photographers.
But it was about five, ten quid when I was having my son photocopied.
That would be cheap when I stick his head on a photocopier.
There we are.
Ten pence job done.
Send that to all your relatives.
When I was having him photographed.
It was probably about five, ten quid.
To send these pictures out to people.
And then you can do things like virtual Christmas cards and stuff.
Email them to friends and family.
Facebook them.
WhatsApp them.
And then we can just put it away.
Get a new one for the following year.
And rotate them.
And I have two different ones.
I'll get the following Christmas out.
See if I can get a Halloween one now.
In time for Halloween.
And get it up.
You can bring the kids down there and dress them.
And take a picture of them.
In front of the display.
That would be fab.
And you can have their brothers and sisters and stuff can't you?
And do it that way.
I've got a bit of antlers on the dog.
Bring them down.
So thank you to my volunteers today.
Like I've said before.
A volunteer is priceless.
They literally are.
Thank you so much to Helen and Roy for all the work they've done.
And everything they've volunteered.
We're absolutely over the moon with it.
