Alright, morning guys, morning guys - 1 Oct 2025 - (1,399 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank

Alright, morning guys, morning guys.
Listen, I know you're keen, right?
But give us a chance to get in in the mornings, okay?
Because it's quarter past 12 now, I could have done the outside of the shop and got into the shop and put the lights on and done my safety checks quicker if I didn't have to remove like five customers standing in the doorway.
You know, I had customers come straight in before I'd even put lights on this morning.
Give us a chance to get in and do safety checks.
Now, for example, Sammy's coming in around 12, so if you see her turning up and unlocking the door like this, that means she's not open yet, okay?
Because she needs to get her stuff out.
Yeah?
Like me this morning, I'm like, I've got customers and I'm like, hang on now, you can't get in because I can't get the stuff out, okay?
When we put the stuff away, we put it there.
So that when we come in in the morning, the first job we do is put it back out.
So I've had five customers this morning and I'm like, I need to get in and out of the shop.
So give us a chance to get in.
Perhaps we'll put the opening times like 10.30 or on the half past to give people a chance to get in through the door.
I know you're keen and I know you want to come shopping with us, but it's like, I can't do anything if I'm standing by here with a table or an armoire in my hand.
Yeah?
And you're standing by there and I can't get out.
Okay?
All right.
So anyway, I've got in and I've got the lights on.
So I've got to do the safety checks now.
Make sure that, you know, make sure nobody's broken.
Make sure the exits are clear.
Make sure the walkways are clear.
Look, something are falling down by you tonight.
Look, right.
So some things do fall off in the night.
Do happen.
Oh, I put the wall out there because people keep asking about the wall.
But I had it yesterday in Risca as well.
And I'm like trying to get like the chairs and stuff out the door and I've got people trying to get in and I'm like, hang on, hang on, go back, go back, you know, give us space to get in.
You know, you're keen.
We know we have good offers.
And you want to come in and buy stuff.
But what's the day?
We've had some lovely days.
It's got a bit cold.
I got a bigger jumper on today.
But it's cold.
I don't know what's happened because I thought we sold some stuff.
Right, so there we go.
Like the bike had come down.
See, this is what happens when you move stuff in the mornings.
You know, we don't want anything falling on anybody.
We need to come in and make sure because we're about to move something by here.
Obviously, this is moved.
So I need to make sure things like this are not going to fall on you when you're shopping.
So give us a chance to get in.
Give the workers a chance to get in and have a look what they've got to do.
I've got soup today.
Reminder of my soup.
I didn't eat it all yesterday.
And some more nice crusty bread.
This is nice.
This came in.
So it'll be ten.
It's heavy.
It'll be ten.
Well, it'll be less than that because we're on 75%.
But this would be ring fenced for two weeks minimum.
So a volunteer or myself wouldn't be able to take it on allowance or 75% discount.
Staff discount, you know.
But that's nice.
They're very heavy.
They're lovely.
So it'd be, you know, everybody gets a fair chance of buying it for the same price.
Right.
I don't know where to get sandwiches from next door because I don't fancy my soup yet.
And they do decent sandwiches next door, but they sell out quick, quick.
I might do that.
I'm going to be here till four, four thirty.
And then I got a pick up tonight.
We are currently three to four days behind with the pick ups.
So if you want, you know, if you're going to arrange a collection by paying for one or you're on our route,
then you're looking at at least four days wait.
OK, because I've had I get a few people say, do you want all of this?
But you need to pick up now.
I'm like, no, I can't do that.
And I definitely can't do it during shop hours.
OK, now I should.
I'm not sure if I got volunteers in today or did we agree Friday?
I can't remember.
Anyway, so I may have new volunteers starting here.
So let me know before you turn up to volunteer because we can't have too many at once starting.
Risca volunteer can go down there to start today, but not existing volunteers.
OK, I don't need existing volunteers in the shop.
You know what to do.
Go to Pontypool, help the staff in Pontypool.
It's not open till 12 o'clock.
So if you volunteered with us at least once before and you know what you're doing, Pontypool, please.
You go to sleep, where are you?
And I can just shut my eyes and gone.
Better than I was yesterday.
So thank you, because yesterday I wasn't very good at all.
We've got some CCTV footage that we're asking our friend that lives two doors up in Risca to have a look from the outside because obviously we've still got the flag that's gone missing.
Well, I can see the woman pulling it off the front.
I can see her doing it on my CCTV, but our friend will have better CCTV and we can see somebody then hanging around with a blanket was
so.
And whoever took it out of the window, put the window back tidy.
So they knew what was happening.
Hey, guys, I came here this morning, right?
Something odd here this morning, right?
Oh, you might not see it because it started to rain a little bit.
I've got a posture, but it needs a wash.
They've got it up for like it'd be 25 today, but it needs a wash.
And they haven't washed it.
So I'm even going to take you with me tonight and then it'll be 25.
I'll do it for 10 because I need to wash.
Right.
This wasn't here this morning.
Obviously it was inside the shop.
I've got a dry spot there.
Can you see it?
I don't think I see it on the camera.
So we wouldn't have had a bin there.
We wouldn't have had a rubbish there.
Right.
And he hasn't been to do the council bin or anything.
So has somebody put donations there and they've been nicked again?
Don't leave donations outside this shop.
It is rife.
They had just taken them 24 cents.
Okay.
The other businesses have told me.
Just odd how the rest of the ground is damp from the rain.
And we've got this immaculate dry spot there and there was nothing there.
To me, it looks like there was boxes or bags or something there.
And then somebody's taken them.
Right.
So don't drop any donations off until the shops are open.
Right.
Because A, we can't, we can't guarantee that a dog haven't weed or a rat haven't run over them.
Or we can't, you know, we can't guarantee that somebody hasn't damaged them.
And oh, we found out it was messing with the rubbish in Pontypool.
It's actually a council worker.
So yesterday they were quite rude and threw the rubbish back in through the door.
So we've got to ring the council because that is our collection point.
And we pay our collection service and it should have been collected.
So I don't know who this individual was.
We're checking on the CCTV today.
So can I remind you that our rubbish is paid to be collected?
We pay it out of the fundraising.
So please do not mess with our rubbish.
Even if you work for the council, please check your records and your files.
