Alright guys, we need some more volunteers - 11 Sep 2025 - (1,125 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank

Alright guys, we need some more volunteers.
I'd initially like four here, um, to work in pairs and alternate different dates, you know, so some of you do three days a week, some of you do four or whatever.
So I'd like two here and I'd like the same in Risca.
I've got quite a few in Pontypool but I'll always take more in Pontypool.
Can I ask though, Mothers, I know you can't volunteer and I've never asked you to do this before because I know you're busy yourself for your lives and I'm glad, you know, I'm pleased that you like donate to us.
But instead of just chucking it all in bags like this, especially the toys, right, because we don't have the staff and we don't have the time to do this.
I mean this is the fun bit.
This is the fun bit of the job, right?
But I've got to do other stuff.
Like I've had to contact the police this morning because they're obstructing the lane and they're obstructing the foot school fire door again.
So I've had to be on the phone with I've had a lady come in to me that has had problems with another charity and wanted to know...
well they're not a charity anymore, they've had their charity registration taken off and I wanted to know and thank us for the support that we gave and wanted to know what else can be done about this charity that hasn't helped somebody.
So I've had to deal with that as soon as I come in.
I've had to ring the police as soon as I come in to come and get this guy moved because he won't listen.
Pizza go go.
Stop blocking up fire doors.
You're going to kill kids by doing it and you're going to upset me which is not a good thing to do.
But can I ask mothers to start doing this instead of just chucking it in a bag?
Can you sit there like when you're watching the telly or get the children to do it and start putting stuff together or putting it in little bags for us?
Because it's not time consuming and it's fun.
I'm enjoying myself a year now.
But I literally haven't got the time to do it.
Because I need to be doing other stuff.
Like I need to be getting the wash on.
I need to be making sure the washing up is done.
I need to make sure stuff is done on the shop floor.
I've got stuff to hang up.
I've got stuff to pin together.
I've got this.
I've got more.
So if you could start pulling things together like that and putting it in a bag or putting a bag around it, it would be a lot easier for us.
And also, I've got another big bag I've got to go through there.
I know you can't do it with everything.
But also, can you start putting the clothes into sections and leaving it in the dress?
Writing it on the bag or whatever.
3 to 4, 5 to 6.
Can you do that for us as well please?
We would really really appreciate it now.
Because we've got so much coming in.
It's just unreal.
It is unreal what's coming in now.
So if you could do that for us we would really really appreciate it.
We really would.
Like this is ready to go now.
So instead of it being in a bag and a mess, it's ready to rock and roll.
And somebody might come in now and go, oh how much is that little set by there?
With a seesaw.
Oh god I can't even see it because I've got my hand over it.
How much is that little set by there?
Or how much are those duplo blocks by there?
And I can say, oh well it's all of those, there's no other bits.
So I don't know, £2 for that, £3 for this, I don't know.
Or give us £4 for the lot.
So it's a lot easier for us to do.
So if you could start putting stuff together for us, we would really appreciate it.
So at least now somebody can come in and go, oh I like this little set by here, how much is that?
I can say, oh £2.
And it's gone.
Don't forget, I've told them now to,
I mean this mother has made sure it's complete.
She's gone through it and made sure it's complete.
But it would still help if you could sort of give it a wipe over before it comes in.
Sort it into different things.
It would help us so much.
Like these.
These took a good half hour to get sorted to that point really.
Because there's so much to do with them in different sizes.
I've got another five there.
So I need more volunteers now, I'm going to bite the bullet and say it.
We need you in.
We are, the way we do things is very specific.
But we will teach you how to do that when you come in.
Because there are reasons behind it.
I've got these two that's been hanging around for two weeks.
I'm going to have a chance to sort them.
This one I've got but it's full.
Is there anybody that would like to pick up this bag and try and sell it online for us?
£50p, £3 for the mothers.
That's all children's older clothes.
And obviously I've still got these out by here.
The rag bag went, somebody took there.
But I've also got all of these, about ten bags that I need put on Facebook or Vinted.
They're all the pound stuff.
Don't try and get any more for it.
We only want a pound for it.
We like people to have bargains.
But yeah, if you can... I've got a box full in as well.
It's an overflow.
So that is a major overflow now.
An Iceland have lent us a trolley but we need to get it back to her at some point.
But it's just easier for me to manoeuvre.
But I could really do with somebody picking this up now.
Putting it online, pound each, three for two, doing a pop-up shop in your living room.
So if you can come in and give us a hand or take it and work from home, I'm happy with that too.
If you can do that for us.
These are boutique.
Boutique.
I've got two bags I've got to sort there, see.
And then I've got some bags that I've got to sort.
So we really need help.
Two bags of washing I've got.
