Right, so I'm thinking - 10 Sep 2025 - (889 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank
Right, so I'm thinking... oh we've had some more nail varnishes in that for the booty bank.
They will always do a good nail varnish, don't they?
Lovely.
Keep them coming guys.
Thank you ever so much.
You know, mums are really, really happy with all the makeup stuff and everything that's coming in.
Right, so our current policy is that it has to be mum's guardian or the father that comes in
spends minimum of a pound, because that's the minimum we can take on the card machine, and you can pick three pack of nappies or five items from the food top-up shop, or formula, or we can do a food bank voucher.
I'm aware on the website they're saying that we can't.
We can.
Okay, we referred somebody yesterday for a food bank voucher, so that's absolute nonsense.
So what I'm thinking of doing, because we stopped the grandmothers picking up, because what happened in Pontypool was grandmothers were picking up and then the mothers were picking up and they were getting two or three packs of nappies a week.
And we were going through nappies in Pontypool like there was no tomorrow.
So we stopped it, because under data protection it should only be the person who was in need anyway, not somebody on their behalf, unless they've arranged it with us and they can collect.
And then we had a couple of grandmothers that were coming in every week just spending 50p, asking for nappies, and we were like, well no, your daughter's been in, you're only spending the 50p, you know.
So we put a couple of them on restrictions.
So anyway, I've had another grandmother contact me, and I've said no, but what I can do is give you the food number.
There was a reason behind that as well.
It wasn't just that it was the grandmother, because you know, if it's pre-arranged, the grandmother can pick up.
However, there was other reasons involved in why it was refused as free nappies and all the rest of it.
Which obviously I can't discuss.
So what I'm thinking of doing is a subscription for grandmothers, for aunties, uncles, sisters, brothers, twice removed from Pennsylvania.
Because we do get them.
I love this dress.
10p a week, free pack of nappies.
It'll be whatever brand we got, but it'll be the size that you need.
So I need to know in advance what sizes you're picking up.
And it'll be three items from the food top up, and then a carrier bag, okay.
And it'll be, it's not going to be a shipping bag, and it'll be of the 50p children's items, baby items, or the pound items, but they're not to be sold on.
If we find that they get sold on, obviously we'll remove you from the subscription.
Okay, the price is a year to help people.
All we ask then is that when you finish with the clothes, you return them to us so that we can recycle them again.
So that it's still a sustainable method of shopping.
But it means that you could come in as the grandmother and pick up stuff as well, but you're still supporting us because the money will go back into our food bank.
But that is a subscription offer, which you have to subscribe to.
And it'll be a week per week.
We can try it coming in and just paying the 10, and then taking the items.
But I need to know in advance what nappies you see, to put them aside for you.
Because there's no point you go into Pontypool shop and then we haven't got any of the size four.
We've only got twos and eights and sevens.
There's no point.
And then we found that we had a few grandparents that were just picking any old size and we were like, don't you even know the size you need?
So this is why we stopped it because people were just taking them for the sake of taking them.
And then I had another person try to sell me them back and they had like 27 packs.
And I was like, you were taking the mix.
So that's when we started writing our JBB on them and Jayne's Baby Bank on them so that we know if they go on the marketplace, we can see if somebody is trying to sell them on.
Then we had the big issue woman in Pontypool selling them on, coming in asking for nappies, nappies, nappies.
And then she was selling them on to the big issue customers.
So this is why we did it.
But I am aware that some of our mothers work and can't always get to us in our opening hours.
But we could also do this as a subscription offer for other people to pick up as well.
And you're still supporting our food bank because the 10 pound we're going to our food bank, which means we can get more nappies, more food.
Keep the system going all the time, isn't it?
But you also get the clothes as well, but they're not for being put on vintage and stuff like that.
When you finish with them, return back to us.
So let me know what you think, guys.
