I've just had another couple come in and didn't - 9 Sep 2025 - (1,079 words) - Jaynes Baby Bank

I've just had another couple come in and didn't even know we were here.
And we've been open now for a little while here.
Look at that, it came in yesterday.
That's a proper princess dress, isn't it?
And that lovely, the five guys, it's beautiful, isn't it?
That's the pretty baby, 30 months.
Isn't it beautiful for Christmas?
Imagine that Christmas Eve, Christmas morning, Christmas parties.
Let's go for it, guys.
Let's trim up.
Yeah, so some people didn't realise that we're still here raining again.
That we're here now.
So let me just take you down the end of the street.
I wouldn't do it when it's raining, wouldn't I?
We've got the new old woolies by here.
Everybody knows them.
They used to give us lots of rails and stuff and stuff when we first started metting down here.
We've got a couple of other bits here.
There's a nail bar.
Lots of food places.
But this is where we are.
We're at the top of town.
The landlord gave us a good deal on the rent here.
Because I wanted to be down the bottom, but I couldn't turn this one down.
Even if it means I've got to get two.
Two shops.
So here we are, look where New Luck is.
Right, we're not on the high street yet.
There's a shop for this here.
This is the high street.
This used to be the age shop, but they want something like two grand a month for that.
They have a lot.
So there we are, there's the top of town.
That's why I call it the top of town anyway.
I don't know New Luck.
There's the old market place.
They've wrapped it all now.
And
then...
Down here.
You get a lot of people walking past.
I'm quite surprised the footfall, man.
I think it's like a direct cut in, I suppose.
To the other side of Caerphilly.
I suppose, innit?
So it's like Tre Cenneth that way, innit?
I did a lot of when I was doing caring in the community I was up here.
A lot.
That's how I got to know Caerphilly so well.
And the people in Caerphilly.
And we're there.
This is us.
And then we've got a fresh and fetch next to us.
This is a tuition school, you remember, the council.
This is why we said about the parking.
You can't just obstruct the lane.
Because it's a fire exit for children and us.
You can't just obstruct the lane.
Oh, yeah.
How you doing?
So this is us.
We were at this lane.
This is a bit of the one-way system.
We go up, down, down.
Do like an extra sketch.
Looks like an extra sketch on your satnav when it comes over here.
And then this is where we are from here.
And then you go down that road where that taxi was then to the castle.
But you can't miss that.
It's right next to this big building here.
Now this is the one they're putting all the money into.
Nasty fire.
Kids on that roof that one night.
Don't go in there now.
There's spare stuff and all sorts in there.
I think my side gate is open.
I'm going to go and shut it down now.
It's swung open.
I should have that at the top.
Swung open.
But we've got a car park as well.
Like I say, it's not just obstructing our business.
Because people can park in there.
Worst case scenario.
But you've got people's houses here as well.
And you've got a school.
You need to be able to get a fire engine, don't you?
Only thing I would say is, it's tight.
So if you're not confident in reversing.
Don't park down your own bit.
And let us know if you're doing it.
I need a little bolt on the other side to stop it from coming out.
Push that one in.
Pull that one out and then it will stop it.
That was one of our selling points for this.
But I believe the council and the police have told me now.
Do not park here.
They've totally sick of it now.
I was stuck here till 10 o'clock the other day.
And they wouldn't move their car.
They were here but they wouldn't move it.
So I think they booked them.
Because it's against the law, you see.
It's against the law to pub.
Like that car over there could be in trouble.
Because it's blocking access to a public highway.
You can't block...
Like somebody could come along, right?
Park across your drive when you're not there.
And you can't do nothing about it until they move.
Unless a parking warden picks them up for parking on a drop curb.
But if you are on the drive and they park across you.
They are blocking you from accessing the public highway.
And that's the criminal offence.
So yeah, this is us guys.
If we were to have a sit out.
We'd either have to have it by there.
Sit out space.
Or we'd have to have one of those wooden ones put there.
That's going to obstruct a bit of parking then.
So people would be annoyed with that.
Because it's not big enough over there, look.
We'll just see what happens now anyway.
We're going to be here as long as we can.
I like this shop.
There's not many shops that I don't like because I wouldn't take them on.
But...
I'm never into Blackwood.
Never into Arbor Barger that much.
Just relieved that we had somewhere else.
If I go and sort this bit out now.
I'm in the wrong place I think.
And I think the things need to be spaced out a bit differently.
Spaced them out a bit differently.
It'll fall better.
Need to think, well do it like that, like an L shape.
And then I want to get a bookshelf.
Well I can get a bookshelf, don't you?
Or even the CD racks will do.
Because you can get books on the CD racks in there.
In there.
For the free library's books for the mothers, you see.
So I've got some bric-a-brac to go through now today.
And I haven't emptied the car yet.
And I've still got a couple of books.
But it's been quiet, but it was like that yesterday until the afternoon.
