So we're moving donations - 29 Jun 2026 - TikTok @communityshopone - Jaynes Baby Bank

So we're moving donations.
We're not potentially going through donations.
But when I'm finding stuff, I'm dealing with it.
So this bag is obviously added.
So it's all peeling.
You're never going to fix that, the peeling.
Well, you might be able to, I don't know.
But I think it's beyond my fixability.
It's all just flaking off.
Cracks me up when the bag's like this.
It does happen.
You know, sometimes you can donate them okay and it'll go.
And then sometimes they like that when they want to, you know, if they come in like that, the best thing is, is to refuse them.
But what I'm doing is I'm taking the beads off.
You know, and I could probably take some of the hardware off if it's not too tarnished as well.
Because, you know, the beads will still sell.
And they're lovely beads, lovely big chunky ones.
So that's what I'm going to do now.
And then we'll recycle the beads.
So we recycle as much as we can.
And then this bag would go in the free box.
And if nobody takes it within a couple of days, then obviously it would have to be disposed of.
But sometimes people pick them up just for the zips.
I mean, by the time I strip it now, there probably won't be much left to it anyway, I expect.
But then somebody might just pick it up as a lining for something.
Or they might say, oh, I've been looking for something like that.
A fitting something.
I don't know.
If it doesn't go, that's when we skip it.
But every item that we look at and we think that's no good, we look at how we can recycle it in another way.
Can it be used for something else?
I mean, there's been times, like, I always say to the volunteers, has anybody seen Maureen's bag?
Because I've got a bag with all my bits for working.
And it's got Maureen written on the front of it.
But the zip was broke.
So I thought, well, nobody's going to buy that.
It's one of those ones that fold up to this big, you know.
I thought, well, nobody's going to buy that.
Somebody might have taken it for free.
But I thought, well, I'm going to have it for work, you know.
I obviously wrote in the book that I took it for work because we record everything.
But I just thought I'd do a video to show you what I'm recycling today.
It's lovely, isn't it?
It's coming out really well on this video.
So, really well they are.
Yeah, so they're nice, isn't it?
But there's two different shades.
So I might sort them into the two different shades as well.
But this is the bit I like doing, you see.
It's not just the recycling of the stuff.
It's through the recycling.
Because it's so easy to just chuck this in the bin.
And say, oh, that's minging.
Chuck it in the bin.
And even I go through the bin sometimes.
And I go, hang on, I just chuck that out.
Let's go back through it and rescue it.
But, you know, even with the jigsaws, when they're missing pieces.
I always say, I got a black bag full of jigsaws and they're missing pieces.
Do anybody want them?
Either for craft or for, you know, paper mache or whatever.
I always ask first before we bin anything.
So it always makes me laugh when they say, oh, they're fly tipping.
Because there's no way we're fly tipping because we recycle everything.
