If you have promised yourself you will get better - 7 Mar 2026 - TikTok @communityshopone - Jaynes Baby Bank

If you have promised yourself you will get better with money in 2026, here are 15 tiny money habits that will instantly make you richer.
Number one, invest one pound.
Lifetime ISA, stocks and shares ISA, cash ISA, premium bonds, high interest saving account.
Just put one pound in, start today.
Number two, no buy now, pay later, ever.
If you can't afford it today and you don't need it, you can't afford it.
Number three, the 48 hour rule.
Any non-essential purchase worth more than 50 pounds must be left in your basket for 48 hours before purchasing.
You'll either forget about it, realise you don't need it or prove to yourself that you actually do want it and you might even get an email with a little discount code whilst it sits in your basket.
Four, delete Apple Pay.
And whilst you're at it, also delete all of your credit card autofill options on any device that you own.
Spending money has never been more simple.
You don't even need your wallet on you anymore.
Let's increase the friction again.
Number five, delete shopping apps.
It will remove notifications and if it's not on your phone, you will not go to it automatically.
Number six, one takeaway night per week.
I'm not here to be the party pooper and say that you can't get a takeout here and there.
But just try and reduce this to once per week.
Make it special rather than making it the default.
Number seven, delete subscriptions.
Every month, take a look through everything you're subscribed to and delete just one thing.
Most people think they're subscribed to like three things.
I guarantee it's probably close to ten.
Number eight, look at your credit card every week.
The issue with credit cards, even though they are great tools, is that often you don't realise what you have spent until your statement comes in.
And by then you're so disconnected from those numbers.
Check it weekly.
Make sure you know what you're spending.
Nine, check your credit score once per quarter.
This is a simple number indicator as to how you are currently doing with money.
Make sure it's going in one direction and if it's not, change something.
Ten, monthly money check-in.
30 minutes.
That's all I'm asking.
Check your banks.
Check where your money is.
Make sure things are still moving in the right direction.
Don't hide from things because if you don't look, you can't improve.
Eleven, automate paying yourself first.
After all the necessary bills have gone out after your payday, make sure you then contribute towards your savings and investments first before spending the rest on discretionary things.
If you do it the other way around, there will be nothing to save.
Twelve, learn one scale per quarter.
You see, you can only actually save down to zero, but earning theoretically is infinite.
Trying to learn one new scale a quarter could increase your salary in ways you hadn't even imagined.
Thirteen, buy and read one money book.
This is almost a guaranteed return on investment.
And if you're looking for a recommendation, The Psychology of Money is by far my favourite book.
In fact, comment the word book on this post and I will pick one person to send that book directly to so you can read it right now.
Fourteen, ask a friend, a family member or a close colleague one thing about money.
It doesn't have to be too personal.
You don't have to ask them their salary.
But just practice having more conversations about money because the more we talk about it, the more we learn about it and you need to break the taboo.
And fifteen, simply hit follow and I'll try and give you more money lessons every single day.
