Volunteers ↘️⬇️↙️
We have over 100 registered Volunteers now and we have to be very strict with our rule system.
In the two years we have been running we have only dismissed 2 volunteers, and refused one application. If you upset any other staff or volunteers then you will be asked to leave immediately. You are all to treat each other equally. If you have a problem you need to come to me to discuss it confidentially and in private. I can arrange to come out and you see you at home if you prefer. All volunteers are to treat each other equally. Me and my son are the owners and trustees and we have one silent trustee. We will put two volunteer managers in place at each shop, and we we will have one volunteer manager for the alotoments and the litter pickers.
This is our brand and we have worked extremely had to build it and earned integirty through word of mouth and our behaviour. We are recognised in many countries across the world not just England and Wales. You are ambassadors of our brand.
I worked as a profit protection officer (which is second to CEO - I told the company how to make profits and where they were losing them), for one of the largest companies in the world for 25 years plus I work in the social and health care systems. I know exactly what I am doing.
Our goal is to help as many people as possible with dignity and respect and take down any other groups/charities/organisations that are ripping off people below the poverty line while honouring the environment.
We do not throw away useful items. Can all volunteers not throw away items - we are one of the largest compliant zero waste organisations in Wales and have been complimented and recognised by the Caerphilly Councillors and Caerphilly Council for this. We do not waste a sausage!
Volunteers in the shop. Please use the metal draws and lockers in the Shops for your valuables. We do not accept any liability for any lost items that's why the lockers and metal draws are in place to safeguard yourselves.
Volunteers roles in the shops as listed below in order of expectation please ⬇️
1. Health and Safety is everyone's job BY LAW, ie check for items on the floor that has fallen of the hangers etc and exits and entrances cleared. You are employed to do this job.
2. Put up yellow warning signs at the front of the shops.
3. Check donations - ringfence fundraising items and sort big solid items first into location because they take up more room.
4. Clothes donations hung up or sorted into £2 adult bags and put in back storage room/container for use at later date.
5. Cleaning in general
6. Keep gift aid and sales log up to date.
7. Be polite and helpful to customers and other staff memebers.
8. When a donation arrives help bring in the donation from business that support and customers.
9 Build a rapport with customers so we can help understand their needs so we can help them with things like advice, other helpful groups and agencies and foodbanks for example.
We don't want any volunteers that are miserable, pain in the arses, with no sense of humor - you need to be able to work in a flexible, dynamic team of all ages. Our shops are run by Mothers for Mothers, we treat everyone equally.
We expect a lot from our volunteers but we also reward our volunteers as we appreciate them amd the hard work they do, we make sure the staff fridge is full of drinks and snacks and they are entitled to take a reasonable amount of donations for free or a small donation price.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our volunteers and all the physical hard work, extra time and effort they put in to helping other families and giving back to other families in need.
